mary maloney has the details. << this grinning man -- is at the heart of a terror investigation. enrique marquez was syed rizwan farook's friend and former neighbor. law enforcement officials say marquez has told them that he and farook built pipe bombs together -- and three years ago plotted a terror attack. but he and farook did not not raise any red flags to police or the people around them. this is marquez in april -- speaking to a local news station about pets. (enrique marquez/kille r's friend): "i'm sore now. i'm really really sore." (reporter): "you ran hard?" (enrique marquez/kille r's friend): "yeah." investigators believe farook was connected to a radicalized group in california. in 2012 -- prosecutors said four men planned to travel to afghanistan to join al qaeda. marquez told the fbi -- he and farook had a plot of their own. but they became scared when the california group was caught. marquez admitted buying two rifles and giving them to farook. syed and his wife -- tashfeen malik -- used those weapons and other guns to kill 14 people and injure more than 20 others.
