as mary mcguire shows us, all of your favorite legal fans are heading to the beach with you.>> see you real soon. -- april 7, 2017. >> reporter: construction workers are working hard to finish the legoland beach retreat. transforming this site into a toy wonderland. >> when you stay here, it's as if you are staying among with toys that you played without home as a child. whether you are 10 years old, 30 years old, 50 years old, this will remind you of all of lego bricks at home. >> reporter: this is a very first north american beach themed retreat in the legal and family and is located about a half-mile from the theme park entrance. it is designed with the same details and kid centric features as its counterpart across the street. bold designs, bright colors, and lots of lego toys. >> we are the first legoland resort in north america to add this style of accommodation.>> reporter: it will feature 83 beach themed bungalows offering meant to look like a child made them. while the resort is geared toward children, it will have a lot for adults to love like a pool bar, retail shop and rest

mary mcguire is at the winston park rec center. you've been there all morning, how are people dealing with tears in their eyes. this was so much more than just a rec center to them. this really was a pillar of hope in the community. now it's a total loss. fire crews found flames 30 feet in the air at one point. the vinick family foundation donated $2.8 million to the awaiting the reopening of the newly renovated rec center. >> the kids, what we're thinking of, the teens that come and play, dulings that play basketball as well. to keep the community together and out of trouble. that was our hope. that was our hope. to see it like this is emotional. >> reporter: this rec center was supposed to open up back within the next couple of months. in all it took 35 firefighters, the fire under control. back live in hillsborough county you can see that the fire investigators are on scene now, they are working to determine what caused this fire. if there's any good news that came from this, it's that there were no injuries. this rec center was

newschannel 8's mary mcguire joins us live from the scene at winston park rec center just off palm river road in the clair mel area. anyone inside when the fire broke out? >> reporter: thankfully no one was in the rec center but the building is a total loss. as the sun comes up we're getting a better look at the scene and right now crews are structure and look for more hotspots, then take the ladder truck back in and use a thermal camera to make sure the fire is completely out. when we arrived on scene flames were shooting 30 feet in the air and two aerial ladder trucks were brought in to fight this fire. this is a building that has been in the news lately. in march the vinick family foundation announced they were donating $2.5 million to renovate the rec center. the largest individual gift in the 90-year history of was set to be renamed the jeff and penny vinnick family winston park boys and girls club. it was a challenge for firefighters. >> every fire has its own individual challenges. this one the size of the building and how involved it was when we got on scene. put us in that defen

mary mcguire joins us now with more. >> reporter: we've been out here about an hour. i'm going to step aside to give you a better look at the flames. they are still raging in the hillsborough county. -- claire mel city area of hillsborough county. you can see trucks are spraying water on the flames trying to tame this. again we've been out here an hour and the flames are still burning. this building has been in the news lately. in march vinix announced they would donate $25,000 for this. neighbors say it was under construction now. this is a case kids came to play basketball and also offered child care programs that feeder schools in the area could have depended on. we spoke to a map who has been coming to the rec center since he was a kid and he was watching the flames in disbelief. >> it gives hope to young kids that they have something to look forward to. now it's gone. playing basketball, with all my day care here. just the after-school programs and things that they've done for the community for, you know, for clair mel, it's just sad. >> reporter: this is also lo
