mary schiavo is still with us. mary, one thing i should have asked you earlier.tacoma international. how big an airport are we talking about? >> we are talking about a major international airport with planes operating there from 777, to dreamliner, 787s, airbus aircraft. i mean, this is a major airport. you have a lot of flights landing there from china. it's -- obviously an airport with a lot of security because you have a lot of international flights. but, you have two very different worlds sea-tac or any major airport. you have the world, the sterile, sterile by meaning security, passengers deal with and that the tsa patrols and all that you see. but people and the rest of the airport, in the bowels of the airport they come to work through their own portals. it is a very different world for a mechanic at the airport. they come to work like anyone else reporting for a job. so you don't ever see that part of the airport because it is on, what we call the air side or the sterile side of the airport. so they live an entirely different world. people in the airport

when we talk about richard russell, i want to ask you about mary schiavo said last hour.omething stood out to her in specific in all of this. when richard russell was talking to the tower, he asked if they could help him with the pressurization of the plane because he was feeling light-headed. she said what stood out he was only at about 14,000 feet. because of that, that is too low in elevation that you would normally become light-headed and she suspects that perhaps there might be something physical going on with him. does that stand out to you as well? >> well, i heard that comment. you start to feel the effects of hypoxia above 10,000, 12,000 feet. i wasn't clear when that comment was made. if he had just completed a barrel roll or his flip, those two, you know, maneuvers that he had completed, that also could have contributed to his light-headedness. you know, these are very sophisticated and stressful maneuvers and it's very common for inexperienced pilots, and experienced pilots, to feel the effects of them. so i'm not quite sure. >> okay. i wanted to ask you as we

cnn aviation correspondent rene marsh and transportation analyst and former inspector general mary schiavo admiral john kirby. thank you all for joining me. we just were hearing there from the ceo of alaska airlines, horizon airlines representatives there as well. fbi agent, the special agent in charge for that area. and i would imagine that a lot of what we heard didn't come as too much of a surprise but mary, i want to start with you. the one thing that stood out to me, they made very clear there was no security breach here. this was someone who had the credentials to be where he was. he basically just took advantage of the situation. was that your sense? >> well, technically, there's no security breach in terms of credentialing but again, the overall federal regulations require the airline, the operator, the 121 operator, the commercial passenger operator to have control of its aircrafts. so technically, the person flying this plane didn't breach his credentialed security. he didn't lie to get his credential or go to an area of the airport he couldn't go to but because they didn't contr

. >>> let's bring in mary schiavo, joining us by phone from charleston, south carolina.llowing this over an hour. ari, tell me everything that we know know, what leaps out at you first? >> there was one thing i am watching the footage of this mechanic flying. and when you first start, when you first start student out flying one of the hardest things to try to do is, to do coordinated turns. and when you turn the plane. it's not like turning a vehicle. y [ indiscernible ] the rudder, the rotors, the turn, a graceful turn. he did a coordinated turn. you know, could he have done it by accident? sure. but i dent thon't think so. i'm convinced this person has some flying training, some flying ability. and knows a plane extremely well as a mechanic. you know, the flap lefrlvers. how to gear levers, gear up and all that. but when i saw the one turn, and, knowing what you know students look like when they first start flying and how hard it is to get used to the coordinated turn. i thought he had, had some flying lessons. >> okay. so, to be clear, and in layman's terms for somebo
