and joining us now are abc news white house correspondent maryalice parks and contributing political yalice, you're always at the white house. what is the white house's reaction right now especially to those on the democratic side who are calling for him to drop out? >> they've been incredibly dismissive. i mean, they've gong as far as to mock some of these house members that called for him to step aside basically teasing them as being low level. it is never a good look when you are making fun of your own friends. i mean, these are democrats. these aren't people that want to see donald trump get elected. these aren't people that want to help donald trump get elected. these are people that know that biden was already down in the polls and now feel like it will be impossible for biden to make this election about trump, and there's also democrats who are just feeling so betrayed. they feel like for so long the white house shot down any conversation about the president's aging and that that made things worse now in this moment, and the last week, the response has been awful. i've heard fr

maryalice parks abc news. >> a federal grand jury has indicted an east bay man with firebombing a policeley. the u.s. attorney's office shared these photos, accusing casey goonan of putting molotov cocktails underneath a uc berkeley patrol car. it happened on june 1st amid pro-palestinian rallies on campus. the 34 year old pleaded not guilty. the suspect's lawyer believes the investigation was political in nature. he told abc seven news last month he thinks investigators want to place blame on the suspect because of his opposition to the israel-hamas war. a seven on your side investigation during the height of the pandemic, many bay area schoolchildren took part in what families say was advertised as free covid 19 testing at schools. now, three years later, some families say they're still receiving bills. abc seven news reporter melanie woodrow dug in to get some answers. >> as covid 19 raged during the early pandemic, covid testing at schools was critical and welcomed. the testing was supposed to be free testing that we got that was performed by a laboratory that came to the school site

our white house correspondent maryalice parks and contributing political correspondent rachael bade areing to you both. maryalice, let's start with you, and the pressure on president biden is growing for him to step aside. when does a decision need to be made here? >> reporter: whit, technically not until the delegates vote. i mean, democratic convention is august 19th in chicago. many states have deadlines where names have to be formally submitted for ballots to be printed the day or days after the convention. so democratic lawyers i've talked to say they know they could face some challenges if biden were to drop out, because primaries have already happened, but as long as something happens by the convention, they feel okay. the democratic party is considering this potential virtual roll call actually the first week of august. delegates would vote then, would vote ahead of time. they're going to finalize those plans next week, so if they don't move that virtual roll call, then i think that really becomes the deadline. no one wants to fight after delegates have voted. but, look, that's
