maryann, thank you. now to developments in the search for the malaysian airlines plane. there is word that malaysia's military has radar data to show that they changed course and were flying much lower than planned before it disappeared. the search zone has been widened to include hundreds of miles from the last position recorded by civilian authorities. nbc kira simmons has this from kuala lumpur. >> they're saying they believe it may have tracked flight 370 west of here to a place caughted t -- and it suggests the plane may have diverted and travelled some way before it did finally disappear. today we were invited to follow the search and rescue to fly with them. we were on a military transport plane taking part of this desperate mission. >>> we took off searching for an aircraft now missing for days. the heart of the operation to find out what happened to flight 370. >> the water stretches out on either side of us. ocean on this side, ocean on that side, and the straight is 705 kilometers. >> they scoured the ocean. while in the air, they made contact with six other airplanes also looking. >> we're flying low over the ocean off the coast of malay
