burning into the night from a string of csx chemical cars that blew up this afternoon east of baltimore, maryland. it started when a train hit a truck, sending at least 15 cars off the tracks. the cars carrying chemicals used in making polyester and other synthetics caught fire, then blew up. you can see what it did to the warehouse nearby. one man, eric beverly, who was driving by, started taking video as he got closer and closer to the scene. as you'll see, he almost got too close. >> whatever that is, it's torching. this happened yesterday afternoon in rosedale maryland just east of baltimore.last was so strong, it rattled homes half a mile away. the accident derailed about a dozen cars on the csx train. several of those cars burst into flames. officials wrapped up a press conference and are back on scene again this morning to check out nearby buildings. >> we are keeping people out of the buildings. we have requested building engineers to look at these buildings to determine their structural stability. once that's determined, then people will be allowed back in. >> reporter: the national transportation safety board says it isn't clear why the truck was crossing the tracks in this area. the accident happened at a private crossing. investigators say the train was carrying one type of hazardous material but it was not involved in the explosion or fire so no evacuations were ordered. now, officials also say still not clear if or what charges the truck driver or anyone would face. reporting live in the newsroom, cate caugiran, kpix 5. >>> investigators are expected to be on the
