and every now and then i take the 43 masonic bus. i think i avail myself of all transportation options. and i think this is an excellent plan. i will speak first as a bicyclist. i have been living in the neighborhood 15 years. and during that time bicycle transportation has definitely improved a lot. and i thank you for your part in that. i now have great ways to go east, south and west. unfortunately north the only real way to go is masonic. and as others have mentioned, it's unsafe and scary. i too ride on the sidewalk at night. i don't like riding on the sidewalk, but i do not want to take my life into my hands. so you will probably hear from plenty of people telling you it's necessary for cyclists. that's a no-brainer. as a car driver i have to go that way sometimes. and as was mentioned in the presentation [bell] it's a very short stretch. if traffic slows down it's not going to significantly reduce people's travel time. and frankly, i would rather be on a pleasant street when i am in my car. i sometimes go out of my way to driv

our address is 1450 masonic avenue. -- photographed our home from masonic and buena vista park.now the view from buena vista park is not obstructed. that would change considerably with the proposed addition. we frequently travel around the world and are constantly shocked to see cities filled with cubed that look awful and makes one wonder how one finds the courage of living in such ugly environments. we believe in a beautiful city which is quite unique. clearly it is only protected by citizens and a planning process that ought to prevent every piece officerland turning into a cubic tower. we live intersection to the a beautiful park where we, our visitors and neighbors can walk and have a nice view of the city and out to the ocean. walking on the path in the park it is obvious 611 buena vista west is a giant but suggested additional construction would make it obnoxiously so. butting next to the the beautiful homes on either side. for us personally it will change the feel and privacy of our backyard. the proposed construction represents an unacceptable foreign tower in the local

this is going in before the major masonic upgrade project. design should be completed by june of 2013, construction completed by september of 2014. again, this is an upgrade for the pedestrian signal extending [speaker not understood], things of that nature. finally new signal contract, these are brand-new traffic signals. the construction is near completion. i believe they're what we call punch list items. the signals aren't up and activated and moving forward we should be seeing a close out from this fairly soon. franklin and goff improvement, this is to install a suite of traffic signal improvements along the full extent of franklin and goff. goff is currently completed. and franklin street is about 97% complete and the design, they're looking to move forward the construction contract very soon. that will be coordinated with full repaving of franklin street and installation of pedestrian [speaker not understood] along the full franklin street corridor. final project reporting on district 5 is a market haight street transit program. i've worked with dick's masonic which includes the walk sf and livable city and the bicycle coalition and many neighborhood organizations for years that have been trying to make it a safer corridor. so i'm looking forward to solution for the street but also full funding for the different proposals supported by the community. and once kind of we have the project fully funded, working on making sure that the project moves forward so that we have safer streets for all. also, on friday, i'll be joining president chiu and many others in the celebration of the chinatown north beach campus, the city college of san francisco. i know there's the open house celebration from 5 to 7 pm at the new site at kearney street and washington. it's been a 10 year struggle and ballots. and battle. i salute the groups like chinese for affirmative action, lawrence wong from the college board and many others, just a few meetings ago we had the former dean, joanne lowe but also the current dean also here. but i'll be there to celebrate. i hope others join us as well. the rest i'll submit. >> clerk calvillo: th
