we are hearing about masses of refugees fleeing the fighting in eastern ukraine. what more can you tell us? >> yes, that figure of more than one million was of concern by the united nations for the first time today. many of the refugees are also moving eastward, many westward, and many are displaced within the country. and here in kiev, they are met with quite a bit of solidarity for the local population. if you are a refugee in ukraine, that does not mean you necessarily get state support. i spoke to a couple of refugees from the city of the hot and the donetsk region today. one of the private initiatives where people get blankets, clothing, all of the things that they had to leave behind. i spoke to a woman who left heavy shelling in luhansk. she said she did not know who was shooting at them, just that they needed to get out. she and her children left with pretty much just the clothing they were wearing that particular day on one of the last trains that got out. she said she initially supported the separatist, but now she is against them completely and was not
