president matsuda. kelly (indiscernible) supervisor chan's office. she thanks you for continuing the item. i did want to read into the record the letter submitted to the commission. i noticed a typo so i'll correct that. dear historic preservation commissioners, thank you for hearing the legislation initiating landmark designation for alexandria theater. while it is my intent to move forward with the landmark designation and appeal of the notice of violation for the property has been filed with the board of appeals. the appeals of notice of violation is set for today august 16, 2023, therefore requesting the landmark designation ordinance for the alexandria theater continue to future historic preservation commission meeting. before the landmark designation moves forward i want to make sure the appeal process is completed and my office has sufficient information how to move forward with the landmarking legislation without imposing undo hardship of the property owner of the theater. thank you for your consideration and understanding, sincerely, connie

commissioner foley. >> thank you president matsuda. i is a lot of experience around churches and they are really difficult to work with, because the buildings are very tall and floor plates are very small. the amount of square footage you get out of a building of useable versus exterior and the height of the building makes it really difficult and very costly to do anything to these buildings. i did renovate a church landmarked and i got through the planning department working with historical preservation in a very cooperative way. worked with [indiscernible] and we were able to do a fabulous job that made everybody happy so i think there will be another--when they propose a project and come in front of us we can look what they are going to do inside, but giving them flexibility to propose project jz it comes back in front of us is fair and these things are very very difficult to renovate and actually occupy. thank you. >> thank you. commissioner wright. >> i think i would add to the previous comments. i think it is helpful to have the
