"new york times" had a very anti-lauer piece and he might not even survive. let's explain to viewers what is going on. what's your take, matt? >> i think we're seeing the folly of basically the decision in 2001 to not declare victory and go home. the you broke it, you own it philosophy of colin powell and other people have led us to try to take over or try to help control a failed state. i would really hate to be the commander in chief who has to write letters to the surviving families of servicemen who are trying to kind of protect or help a regime that is spitting on their service right now. it's really a folly and it's a policy dead end that we've been in now for 12 years. >> well, let me play part of what defense secretary hagel said about all of this. >> i was once a politician, so i can understand the kind of pressures that especially leaders of countries are always under. >> you know, i wonder how much of this is the reality of the situation, how much of this is politics, as you might take from what he just said, that he's suggesting? >> well, if anything, it's probably more afghan politics than u.s. politics. remembe

matt shapiro, president of mws capital, joins us now for chart talk. i have to say, you have been on the show, and you have been warning people that it was time to get in. you mentioned this a couple of weeks ago. but do you have to say to those people now? > > well, you have to take a look, and you still have to consider getting into stocks. the train seems like it has moved out of the station, but i want to get to the situation where you are not running after it. there is still time to get in. this is one of the strongest rallies we have seen since the early '90s, and it is not second- and third-tier stocks that are rising, angie. it is big blue chips: procter and gamble, kraft foods. the fabric of america is going up. let me tell you about a stock i am buying in the dow at an all- time high: travelers. insurance company. conservative, boring, going up. so, there are lots of stocks you can still get involved in. > what could go wrong with an insurance stock, matt? > > well, any stock like traveler's is exposed to catastrophes. they paid out almost $1
