matt: and i'm matt miller. anna: let's talk about currency markets.o be watching capitol hill. we do see some yen weakening overnight. a slightly longer view, this is the first drop in the yen we've seen in nine days. i was drawn to the strength of the yen recently. a nice column on the bloomberg, the title of it is, "has anyone checked out they can recently?" clues asre looking for to where markets go, we miss the obvious. yen strength over the last eight days has been a feature. briefly,k up to 110 so can buy fewer yen for the dollar and that is going to be one of the interesting aspects of today's trade. we are going to get one of the best currency guests on the program today. i'm looking forward to that discussion with kit juckes. let's look at the asset classes a lot going on with currencies. do i put the euro in there, the was argued to me is sexier, so i included that. falling back below 1.25. if you look at the intraday chart, it is a rather abrupt move. take a look at the s&p futures. 0.25%.p just about it will be interesting to see how impor

matt miller? matt: 30 minutes until the cash trade opens up.ave futures up across the board after a positive finish for equities in the u.s. and around the world yesterday. the markets seemed pleased with janet yellen's handling of the rate hike yesterday, as well as the dutch election outcomes. very interesting loops. in other asset classes as well, you may not have expected a divergence in monetary policy getting stronger. guy: fascinating to see what will happen here. it was a dovish hike. that is why the market is doing what it is doing. snp uptick -- 8/10 of 1%. equity markets a big winner in this trade. the hong kong dollar, we got the smb, japanese yen up 3/10 of 1%. that is a problem for haruhiko kuroda as we watched to see exactly how the japanese deal with a fed's tightening on a gradual basis. to commodity story, we have some metals trading a little higher. gold will bid overnight. up 6/10 of 1%. let's talk about europe and -- in a little more detail. this is the trade i was watching. the only people and spread -- bund spread. thead

matt: to bring.ck to the french issue we were talking about at the top, so many people have been concerned about the massive asymmetric risk of a le pen campaign. as the chances of her winning , and as a loter of people start to realize that even if she did, she would not be able to pull out of the euro, does that look like a good place to put money? andrew: look, i think it is important to remember that there is still a lot of time left in this campaign, and a lot that can happen. this question of what is in the price is also very important. about a month ago, our economists put the odds of a le pen win and about 15%. at the time, they received criticism that was far too low. now, that seems in line with a lot of market pricing. obviously, markets have gotten more optimistic. you had a good chart earlier, discussing that. with the options few, it obviously increases the risk. i think that one issue, with regards to the euro, which would still leave it somewhat exposed, is that is the one instrument

matt: tremendous opportunity. the first point i would like to make is that when it comes to tech policy, we have been bipartisan in a collaborative area. last year through the innovation initiative we passed 35 bills. in less than six months the average bill had 380 votes. these bills are going on to become law. the last bill that the president signed i believe was an innovation bill. before you even get to the context of the political energy withhere is a new administration to do things. this is a consensus driven area. i think we will see a lot of progress. when you think about this party alignment, hopefully it will create the opportunity to do more structural changes that will be beneficial for our democracy. land?re does privacy matt: it is one of those great american debates. that has been the topic of our entire conference and the new administration. there are important determinations that need to be made. making sure we are aware we are setting precedents that will continue into the digital future. thought

matt: what about in china?re have been a few more stumbling blocks there although there has been tremendous growth and growth potential. how does the situation look to you right now? ralf: china is continuing to grow. gdp p growth rate of about 67 -- 6%. we see very good prospective in china. --t: chinese command customers demand big discounts. we have heard anecdotes of other premium brands offering up to 25% discounts. you have to go into that rebate territory to get a bigger foothold in the market? ralf: no, we don't want to go into this kind of territory. matt: what about selling into the big cities and tier two and tier three cities? how important is it for you to get in and in fact china with the jaguar land rover brand? ralf: china is the biggest market, therefore it is important for land rover. but land rover still has a very limited network and there is huge growth opportunities. the opportunities in growing the network and growing opportunity to sell more cars in the cities but also now tier two and t
