joining me from paris now is matt bradley. matt, what's the talk there? the rush to return to normal. what's going on? >> reporter: yeah, i mean. kind of a footloose summer here, a lot of young people were out and about partying. they weren't socially distancing. those numbers are mostly falling with young people, the people who are now going back to school, who not necessarily abiding by social distancing, that isn't so dangerous because in reality, those people weren't getting sick or without any symptoms but the danger could come later. there could be a drag. right now, we're seeing this spike in cases throughout the entire continent but we're not seeing a spike in deaths or hospital visits, so we're not really seeing the truly devastating impact of the disease that we saw a couple of months ago when the daily rate of infections was actually lower than it is now in certain countries in europe, so this is real threat. the health minister here in france said in the next couple of weeks we could see a major spike in new covid cases in intensive care units
