ukraine's fight against russian aggression joining me now from kyiv is msnbc foreign correspondent matt bradleyry of state antony blinken i know has talked with ukraine's foreign minister. what can you tell us about the damage control and any indications of whether it's working? >> reporter: i mean, we're starting to hear more and more reaction from here in kyiv this is kind of trickling out as all those revelations from those leaked documents have been trickling out, and we're starting to hear actually kind of a shift in tone from the leadership here in kyiv. you know, back last thursday when we first heard that from "the new york times," those first documents, they immediately dismissed them and said this is just russian propaganda this is just cooking the books, but now as we started to see more and more and especially since we started to see more and more revelations coming out with regard to u.s. intelligence gathering much further afield from just ukraine in places like israel and south korea, it looks less and less like something that was just cooked up by the kremlin, and the latest we

nbc's matt bradley is live from kyiv this morning. ining nato mean for russia >> reporter: well, jose, really, i mean, finland's accession to nato will illuminate one of the most elegant ironies of this war, of putin's invasion of here in ukraine because you know, nato expansion was one of the pretexts putin used last year more than about 13 months ago when he invaded ukraine. he said that nato was an expansionist power, that it was gradually increasing eastward and threatening russia of course nato had been founded with the goal of containing the soviet union now nato has continued to expand, and that has been threatening not just to vladimir putin but to some of his predecessors, to a much lesser extent by invading ukraine, again, with the pretext of trying to control or push back nato expansion, he's actually reinvigorated nato and given it more of a reason to exist, which it had been kind of -- on ever since the collapse of the soviet junion. we saw or we're seeing finland joining tomorrow, sweden is still in the process but finlan

nbc's matt bradley joins us no from kyiv. so, matt, what can you tell us about these documents and what they reveal? >> yeah, lindsey, thes documents to show quite a bit. they show some things that hav not been published before, including ukraine, russian military capabilities. crucially they show one detail of the expenditure rate or the burn rate of ammunition in himars, those are the powerful weapons the u.s. has been using, the u.s. has been providing to ukraine to use against russia. and, you know, this is the detail that had not been published before it's interesting to see. when it comes to the ukrainians, they're not gonna be all tha concerned. in fact, a lot of them already have been pouring on water o this all weekend long. the fact, is these documents really are six weeks old, they don't show much about what could be or what are these plans for an upcoming ukrainia offensive. that's what ukraine has been broadcasting loudly, considering this is kind of top secret plan. they've been talking about thi very openly that
