nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the scene. and matt, i know you've just been talking to people there. >> reporter: yeah, christine, i just spoke with the executive chief from the philadelphia fire department just moments ago, and he tells me that the arson task force is going to be handling this investigation, mostly because this is not the first time that firefighters have been called to this property. i'm going to get out of the way. you can see that most of the fire department activity has left, but they do have the tape still up here. it is still considered a crime scene. so, this intersection by east coulter and lena street, that is blocked off. this is right by germantown avenue. now, this happened just before 4:00 this morning. it's that first home you see there on the right. the front door and the porch are burned, and that's pretty much the extent of the damage. the fire marshal is also out here on the scene. but a family member tells me that eight people, including two young children were inside at the time. they all

matt delucia is live at the scene. and matt, i understand investigators are being cautious about how they're describing this. >> reporter: right. they're saying is this a suspicious fire and the fire marshal's office is investigating. i'll get out of the way so you can see what is left here. folks are trying to salvage what they can. the home caught fire around 1:00 this morning. less than two weeks ago, the house just door just to the right was fire bombed and now there another suspected fire bombing. here is what the scene looked like early this morning. five adults and a three month old infant were rescued from the home. the infant and woman were taken for treatment, but injuries did not appear to be serious. homeowner tells us she heard a loud bang, something came through the front window and smoke alarms went off. they went to the roof and waited for firefighters to rescue them. they were asleep at the time and one believes it's a feud over a woman and children. he knows is this sbepgs al and wants to stop. >> they

i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> we've told you there are multiple crime scenes. minutes ago we got an update from police at a second crime scene. our team coverage continues now with nbc 10's katy zachry. she's live in souderton. what have you learned, katy? >> reporter: well, tracy, we know from police sources that several scenes erupted throughout montgomery county -- unfolded, rather, soon after that deadly shooting in harleysville. we're at one of the scenes. we're in the borough of souderton where police believe the shooter may have barricaded himself in a home along penn avenue. we're along the s.w.a.t. teams' perimeter and have seen the members running back and forth to various properties sometimes with guns drawn. i'm told by a local police chief who was brought in to assist souderton with the situation that they have seen some movement inside the home where they believe the suspect is, but they don't know if the movement is from the suspect or nun else. here is more of that conversation. >> the tactical team is moving very slow and methodically because t

matt delucia is watching the action firsthand. att, tell us what's happening right now and exactly what you're up to. >> reporter: rosemary, within the past 30 minute we got i side the construction site here at 19th and arch. we can show you what's going on. i have all the safety gear here, all the construction workers have all the hard hats and safety vests because they're considering safety a huge priority right now, especially when you're dealing with this much concrete. look behind me. you can see what is going on behind us right now. 4,000 yards of concrete are being poured into the foundation here. basically what they're doing is making this ten stories tall. right there this is the elevator core of the building so it's that central part of the structure. and right now i'm going to bring in mike, he's the project manager. you guys are managing the concrete operation here. tell us what is going on right now. how is that concrete getting into the ground? >> basically what you see is an operation that started around midnight. we

matt delucia arrived at the scene just a short time ago. you've been talking with neighbors and a resident who was inside that burning building. >> reporter: one person died. another is at christiania hospital this morning. most of the tenants did make it out safely. there are still some smoldering floor. fire officials tell us that it happened just before 2:30 this morning. take a look at this video shot bay neighbor here as the flames were spreading out of control. several neighbors came outside to watch, as firefighters tried to get the upper hand as one apartment after another burned. this is the harbor house apartments on harbor drive in claymont. one of the workers here just told me that two buildings have damage. 24 units each. so 48 apartments affected in all. firefighters tell us it took almost three hours to bring this fire under control. i spoke with several of these neighbors out here and a man who lives in that building. he describes what happened. >> this guy coming downstairs. so the next thing i have to do is try to get my m

nbc10's matt delucia is live in center city this morning. matt, this building will tower over every other in philadelphia. >> reporter: rosemary, to start it off a lot of concrete is going into the ground. right now one of the largest pouring operations in philadelphia history. right behind me you can see the cement trucks going by. that activity has been going on since ant 1:00 this morning and it's been nonstop. this is the site of the new komt cast innovation and technology center here at 19th and arch. it's in the shadow of the comcast center. it's the foundation for the new 59 story tower that's going in the ground right now. this will change the city skyline. i want to show you all of these cement trucks as we now see a acce septa bus. traffic isn't being effected too much. but you can see one of the cement trucks here now. they're coming in one after another. we drove in this morning and they're all lined up. once they're called up they come down 19th street here, pour out the cement and move on. it's about 400 truckloads in all. it wi

nbc 10 matt delucia live in long crest.u're outside the fire company and the fire chief emphasized the other day the fact that two families are grieving. her siblings, children and as well as her firefighter family. >> indeed, christine. the entire community mourning her loss today and this is engine 64. this is where joyce craig worked since 2012. you can see right there in front of the fire house right by that bench people have been leaving candles and flowers. her final assignment was that fire in west oak lane tuesday morning and since then her family, co-workers and friends have been grieving. they will gather to remember the 11-year veteran of the philadelphia fire department starting this evening. craig was one of the first firefighters to arrive at this house fire on the 1600 block of middleton street. she was fighting that fire which started in the basement, but she did not make it out alive after becoming trapped. now, the first of two viewings is scheduled for this evening. 6:00 at bachelor brothers funeral home

nbc 10's matt delucia spoke to some of those officers just before they left. matt? >> reporter: rosemary, we're outside fop lodge 5 here in philadelphia. those two buses left about 10 minutes ago carrying about 110 officers from the philadelphia police, both retired and active duty. and they are now on their way to new york. take a look at some video we just shot of those buses as the folks were getting on those buses and heading out. now, thousands of people are expected to attend the funeral later this morning for officer rafael ramos. thousands of police officers from around the country had already attended a wake for that officer on thursday. now, both ramos and his partner, officer wenjian liu, were both shot while sitting in their patrol car in brooklyn last saturday. now, later today, during that funeral vice president joe biden and new york mayor bill de blasio are expected to be among those speaking, and also arrangements have not yet been made for officer liu, but the officers i've been talking about out here saying they will attend that funeral as well. i

let's in with matt delucia who is live outside the terminals. you have been talking to travellers, the airport about the conditions. what are they telling you? >> reporter: that ground delay is in effect. it has been since about 6:00 this morning. it's affecting mostly arriving flights. some departures are impacted as well. that has travellers here anxious to get in the air. the runways are wet and air travellers are feeling the effect on this soggy christmas eve. >> there's some warnings and delays of flights. >> reporter: you are hoping that won't impact you? >> yeah. >> reporter: over the past two hours, most flights have been departing on time. but not all of them. an airport spokes women tells me some incoming flights are being held up at other destinations to keep things running smooth here. all in all, about one out of every four flights is running roughly one hour behind. >> i did hear on the radio that there might be delays. i'm okay. i got an early start. >> reporter: with bags packed, so are the flights. we did see several long lines

nbc 10 matt delucia is live at einstein hospital where the uncle is being treated. matt, what can you tell us about the situation? >> the teen lives at the home where all this happened and no word of any arrest. meanwhile his 58-year-old uncle is here in extremely critical condition. it was just after 9:30 last night philadelphia police say there was an argument inside this home on the 500 block when officers got there they found the man on the living room floor unconscious and bleeding from the head. police also found a pair of pliers and a screw driver next to the victim. >> we don't know if it was just a punch or if some of these objects that were found right on the scene, right in the blood. a pair of pliers, a screwdriver, if they were used. >> again, the 58-year-old victim is extremely critical. it's unknown if he will survive, according to police. family members were in the home at the time and witness was interviewed by detectives. but at this hour, police are still trying to find this 15-year-old boy. live in almy, i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >>> a man is

nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the scene. matt, what can you tell us? >> reporter: we are on coulter street by germantown avenue. let me get out of the way. you can see plenty of police and fire department activity on the scene, and the fire marshal is also out here investigating this apparent firebombing. it happened just before 4:00, and it is the first home that is right in front of us. there you see one of the investigators there in front of the door, and we see that there was some burn marks over there on that front door. that's about the extent of the damage. there were people inside the home at the time. they had to be rescued by firefighters, but everyone, we understand, is okay. and i can tell you, just walking up to the scene, i did notice an odor of gasoline and several neighbors have gathered along the sidewalk. but as you can tell, the fire is out. no smoke, no flames, but the investigation is just beginning. and because of that, information is relatively limited at this point. but i'm trying to get an update. for now, live in germantown, m

matt delucia is live on the krin. what are you hearing from investigators?>> reporter: well, right now we're still trying to find out what exactly they're looking at this at, if it is an official fire bombing. but right now, i can tell you this is the second incident in as many week. i was here when the last fire happened. and about 1:00 this morning, you can see the damage on the porch and that front window is all boarded up. right flex door here, is this the home, the porm and the front door here that was set on fire two weeks ago. we'll show you new video we just got an ambulance dropped off the woman anden fand and they got into cars and drove away. with the most recent fire, the fire here this morning wasn't very large. but there was lot of broken windows and debris. the homeowner says she heard a loud bang, something came through the front window and then the smoke alarms went off. five adults ran up to the roof and residents know that this is intentional and they have had enough. >> i want to find out what is going on. they did investigations and they

nbc 10's matt delucia is live at the base. matt, tell us more. >> reporter: president obama's expected to arrive here this afternoon to welcome home troops coming back from afghanistan. several thousand military and family members reside here at the base. now, in his weekly address over the weekend, president obama said as we celebrate the holidays, it's important to thank the troops and their loved ones for their dedication and salute them for their sacrifices. he points out that this month, the american combat mission in afghanistan will end. he says the troops he'll be visiting today, some of them have been a part of the mission to destroy isis in iraq and syria. others have been working with west africa to fight the ebola epidemic there. but he knows that while these troops are coming home for the holidays, there are many more who will still be far from their families. >> our way of life, the freedom, prosperity and security that we enjoy as americans is not a gift that is simply handed to us. it has to be earned by every

matt delucia is live in germantown where it happened on east culture street and it looks like there is new activity out there this morning. >> reporter: i've just learned the six people who live in the house are being helped by the red cross and this morning we've seen some recent department going in and out of the home trying to retrieve some belongings. but it was just about two weeks ago i was out here on the scene when the fire happened right next door and sadly the folks around here are starting to get used to it. a rude awakening around 1:00 this morning. five adults and a four month old infant with you sleeping in this row house when without warn, they had to run for safety. >> we had a report of people trapped. >> reporter: firefighter rescued them before the situation got out of control. on scene, our cameras did not catch any visible flames, but we did see angry residents. just under two weeks ago, the house next door was set on fire. investigators then found two flammable containers that september the porsent the porch and front door ablaze. >> i'm tired of this. i heard the

matt delucia is live on the scene in claymont. i would imagine this is especially difficult for the victims' families, for the residents because it comes during the holiday season. >> reporter: we moved around to the other side of the building, the backside here to give you another angle. this is the harbor house apartments on harbor drive in claymont. you can see how much damage was caused by this fire. there's still a little smoke that we could see on the second and third floors on the other side. firefighters tell us that the fire started in that top floor there. the third floor in an apartment. this video was shot by a neighbor as the flames were spreading out of control. several neighbors came outside to watch as firefighters try to get the upper hand as one apartment after another burned. one of the workers tells me that two buildings have damage. this was a tough one. it took almost three hours to bring this fire under control. i did speak with several neighbors out here and a man who lives in that building and he describes

our matt delucia is live outside of the toys 'r' us in cherry hill. i understand it's going to open in about 30 minutes, right? >> reporter: yeah, in about 30 minutes. super saturday, as it's become known, is now considered to be the busiest shopping day of the year. eclipsing black friday. and that's mostly because stores have now been opening on thanksgiving. but even with all that time, many of us still have some shopping to do or have yet to start. and that is why many of these stores have extended hours now. malls, too, just down the road here, cherry hill mall opens at 7:00 this morning. kohl's stores are open 24 hours until 6:00 p.m. on christmas eve. target and jc penney are also extending their hours leading up to christmas. and retail analyst shopper track put some figures together. they say that sales today alone could hit $10 billion. that would top black friday sales for the first time in about ten years. and black friday isn't even considered the second busiest day anymore. number two after super saturday in terms of store traffic is the

i'm matt delucia "nbc 10 news." >> thanks for keeping us posted matt. the disappearance of the airasia plane comes just ten months after a malaysia airlines jet disappeared. investigators have not found any wreckage in that case, but they think that that plane crashed somewhere in the indian ocean. some call the disappearance of that jet one of modern aviation's most perplexing mysteries. >>> ships and helicopters are taking part in a rescue at sea happening off the greek island of corfu. the greek coast guard now says that they've rescued about 150 passengers, and at this point, there are no reports of any injuries. here are some photos from the scene. the ferry was headed for italy when the fire broke out on the car deck. some of the ships have run into a little bit of trouble because of rough seas. you can tell from these pictures that the weather is certainly not great out there. the fire is said to be so intense that it's melted the soles of people's shoes onboard that ferry. we're watching this story as well and we'll keep you updated with any new

nbc 10's matt delucia just got new information. >> reporter: i just spoke with a family member of the homeowner here. and i'll get out of the way so you can see the scene. not much left out here in terms of the activity. the fire has been put out, but you see the fire department is out here, the fire marshal's also on the scene investigating this apparent firebombing. we are on coulter street by germantown avenue. this happened just before 4:00. it is that first home right in front of us. you might be able to see, it's kind of dark, but you might be able to see the front door does have some burn marks. i'm told there were eight people, including two children inside this home at the time. they had to be rescued, but everyone is okay. a witness tells me someone either drove up or walked up, tossed some papers and liquid on to the front porch and lit it on fire. a family member also says that the back porch had been set on fire recently. and so, at this hour, the investigation is just beginning. that fire is out. no smoke, no flames. it wasn't very large, but enough to trap the people in

live in manayunk, matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >>> thank you, matt. skyforce 10 was over the scene of a tractor-trailer crash in morrisville, bucks county. this is at routes 1 and 32. we're told one person had to be taken to the hospital. skyforce 10 over the scene of a two-alarm house fire in montgomery county. it broke out on 400 block of welsh road in lower moreland township just after 4:00 this morning. fire officials tell us no one was hurt. no word on a cause. >>> investigation under way into a firebombing. this happened on coulter street just before 4:00 a.m. eight people, including two young children, were inside the house. the fire chief says a man inside the home was able to put out the fire. everyone managed to get out safely. witnesses say they saw someone either drive up or walk up to the house and then toss objects and liquid onto the front porch which then caused the house to catch fire. firefighters confirmed they've been to this house before. >> we've been to this home on numerous occasions and what's going on, it's being investigated
