nbc 10's matt delucia is live along the atlantic city expressway in hammelilton township. good morning matt. >> reporter: good morning, ted. and throughout the area, the concern right now is that the -- at the atlantic city expressway right now. it's all quiet at the moment. south jersey did manage to escape the snow yesterday. but folks out here are preparing to see some accumulation later tonight, and into tomorrow. now, overnight, the drive from philadelphia down the expressway was not too bad at all. now, in pennsylvania penndot told us they will be watching the roads throughout the day and make a decision on how to get a handle on the next storm later tonight. next of the salting and plow crews are getting some rest ahead of the clipper system and with salt still on many of the roads, that will certainly help until the snow begins to fall. and we'll come back live out here. in the parking lot of the farley plaza, they've got the salt down already. still some wet roads in south jersey so icing is definitely a concern, as we head into sunday and the second storm in as ma

nbc 10's matt delucia is live on the scene at 12th and jefferson streets. matt, what is the latest?rter: well, vai, the big question is who did this and why? we do know the victim is a 56-year-old woman. i'll step out of the way, you can see there is an active crime scene behind us here at the corner of 12th and jefferson. take a look we also have video from skyforce10 above the scene early on. this happened around 9:15 this morning. police had search dogs out here a little while ago, scouring the area. now, the victim was right by a bus stop at the corner where she was shot in the head. the past two and a half hours, police have been looking for leads. there is a bus we can see out here parked at the scene. we do know that detectives are trying to get some clues, possibly surveillance video that may have captured what happened. this scene is about two to three blocks south of temple university's main campus. the school did send out an alert to students and staff this morning. but being so close to campus there are students who live in this area. i spoke with one temple student who

n nbc 10's matt delucia is live. it was a ghost town earlier. i imagine it has not changed a lot. >> reporter: it has not. i've only seen a handful of people within the past couple of hours, but within the past 30 minutes i spoke with the emergency coordinator for atlantic city. he told me the road crews, salting crews plows have been out all night. they're still out there. as you take a look at the boardwalk, you can see the accumulations that have formed out here since the snow started falling but he called this a weird storm and they hope for safety sake the storm will begin to taper off as the morning continues. we took a right up here. most of the streets here in atlantic city, they appear to be just wet. so right now the snow is just falling. the accumulationings here range from a coating to about an-inch. keep in mind a travel ban is still in effect for new jersey. but the casinos and hotels, they're still open. we've only seen a handful of people but we're going to stay out here. mat delucia live from "nbc 10 news." >>> only a light snow

nbc 10's matt delucia has been monitoring the situation. tell us what's happening right now. >> reporter: rosemary seconds ago i was on the phone with csx. they tell many i a crew is out here responding to the derailment. 11 cars did rerail just after 3:00 containing crude oil. we moved closer to the scene in the past 30 minutes. we'll give you a look at what's been going on out here. fire trucks left a little more than 30 minutes ago. the area around 11th and patterson by lincoln financial field and the wells fargo center was shut down for about an hour. originally we could not get this close. it was considered a hazmat situation early on. it was found these derailed cars were not leaking. and we have seen other trains moving on other tracks. it is not a complete shutdown here. and that csx spokesperson tells me that passenger service in the area is not affected either. and at this point, it is still under investigation. so we'll give you another live look out here. some of the crews already responding. the cars did not leave the track. so

live in wilmington i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> thanks matt. philadelphia area home to the largest dr. king day event in the nation. we are right here at gerard college in philadelphia this morning. we found mayor michael nutter and bob casey lending a hand. this is the signature project at the start of the day. thousands of volunteers taking part in community projects all across the region. mayor nutter attended another dr. king day event in philadelphia. spoke to the crowd at the martin luther king, jr. recreation center. more than 100 volunteers turned out here to help clean up the facility. this brought together arts and cultural organizations. the volunteers as you see here painting a mural. because this is a federal holiday, schools are closed post offices and government offices are also closed. so are many banks in the area. also, a number of dr. king events happening all across the area today. here are just a few of them. a re-enactment march starting at 4:00 in southwest philadelphia on woodland avenue. it will be followed by dr. king'
