nbc 10's matt delucia is live along the atlantic city expressway in hammelilton township. good morning matt. >> reporter: good morning, ted. and throughout the area, the concern right now is that the -- at the atlantic city expressway right now. it's all quiet at the moment. south jersey did manage to escape the snow yesterday. but folks out here are preparing to see some accumulation later tonight, and into tomorrow. now, overnight, the drive from philadelphia down the expressway was not too bad at all. now, in pennsylvania penndot told us they will be watching the roads throughout the day and make a decision on how to get a handle on the next storm later tonight. next of the salting and plow crews are getting some rest ahead of the clipper system and with salt still on many of the roads, that will certainly help until the snow begins to fall. and we'll come back live out here. in the parking lot of the farley plaza, they've got the salt down already. still some wet roads in south jersey so icing is definitely a concern, as we head into sunday and the second storm in as ma

let's start with matt delucia. matt those flakes still heavy. >> reporter: yeah vai, we've seen the snow continuously falling on the boardwalk. no snow here and not much drivers on the roads either. we've got about an inch of snow on the boardwalk. i got on the phone with the new jersey department of transportation a few minutes ago. that i say the statewide travel ban has helped in the effort to clean up the roads. i'm told the bigger issues are in north and central new jersey but they've got 2,500 salters and spreaders on the road. i've talked with folks today trying to clean up. >> my boss got me doing it. it's a storm. as i seep, i've got to put the salt and stuff down so that way nobody will get hurt or nothing. >> reporter: and so right out here on the boardwalk, you can see what's been accumulating out here. about an-inch in some spots, maybe more depending on where the wind had been blowing. i talked with a guy who said the wind was really heavy. that has tapered off, and the snow does continue to fall. we'r

matt delucia is live in northeast philadelphia where the officers are getting ready to leave. matt?they just had a meeting and now they're heading out to the buses. you can see they have two of the buses here right now, about 80 officers who are getting ready to head up to new york. last week, some of these officers went up for the funeral for rafael ramos, the other officer from new york who was killed in that ambush last month. we have officers here from the city. some are -- all these are off duty right now, but you have some who are required and others who are active members of the philadelphia police department who are heading up there for wenjian liu's memorial service today. now, last week so many people went from around the country, about 25,000 officers that philly officers couldn't get into the church itself so they lined the procession route from the church to the cemetery. so the officers today planned to do the same thing. you see them right now. they're all getting on the buses. they will be leaving momentarily. they were scheduled to leave at 6:00, so they'll be headi

let's check in with matt delucia live . you still have your hood up. is that precipitation stopping anytime soon? >> reporter: well, it at this point it hasn't stopped yet, rosemary. we've seen a changeover from sleet to rain and now it is very light. so it's a very light drizzle at this point. we've seen a mixed bag all morning out here by county line road. that heavy slush mix. a lot of vehicles coming out here, the drivers are taking it extra slow which is a good idea when you have conditions like these out here. i do want to show you how much snow it this area has gotten. we're on a grassy surface and you can see just how much snow is down here. the snow that packs tightly, the good snow for snowball making weather out here. we have seen a lot of people taking it extra slow because it is slick right now and also a lot of hydroplaning . once you get the snow on the road that fell earlier, then you get the rain piling on to it. it's kind of difficult for that snow and that rain to drain away. that's why you're getting the slushy mix. this diner packi

nbc 10's matt delucia is live along the atlantic city expressway in hamilton township. hi matt. >> reporter: hi. the drivers are telling me that the roads really are not bad right now. some of the side streets are a little slick, but the major roads like the atlantic city expressway out here just damp for the moment. and the folks out here realize that later tonight, the snow will be on the way. now, we were over in pennsylvania yesterday and plows were out for much of the day, and penndot told us they will be watching the roads all day today and deciding on how to attack this storm as it approaches. most of the salting and plow crews are getting some rest right now, ahead of the clipper system. they're talking with drivers this morning out here. some of them are heading to the shore. one man runs a hotel in ocean city. he says it's not an option. he has guests coming and he has to stay open. so for now, it's all about getting ready. >> so how are you preparing for it? >> it's a good question. i'm going down there today to make sure my staff is ready for the snow. make s

nbc10's matt delucia is live in center city. matt, the city has been taking action to get everyone out of danger. what have you been doing? >> yeah well, michelle a code blue is in effect right now. that means the city is taking measures to get people off the streets, especially people who are homeless or could be in a dangerous situation. but just to show you how cold it is right now we're in the fountain at love park. normally this would be full during the summertime but it is empty right about now. there is still some of that snow that fell just a couple day ace go in other parts it's just a sheet of ice. when you talk about some of the untreated road surfaces and the sidewalks you want to be careful as you head out this morning because there could be some slick spots. out here in center city there are not many people staying outside for very long. project home is out in the city right now helping to put the homeless people into shelters on a night like this. two teams i'm told have been working around the clock responding to

matt delucia is live there this morning. matt are there any witnesses to this crime. >> reporter: police tell us that neighbors called 911 just before 11:00 last night. they said there was a commotion in the middle of the street. but by the time the officers got there, this baby was already badly burned. take a look at the scene. we were there a few hours ago, this is simenton road near stockton's bridge road in pemberton township burlington county. that baby were we're told was set on fire and was very young, possibly a newborn. a helicopter was brought in the baby flown to st. christopher's. a woman 22 years of age was at the scene, taken to a nearby hospital as well. we're working to find out her relationship to the victim and whether police believe she was the one who lit the fire. those two, police tell us were the only ones in the street. at this point it is unclear if this baby will survive. again, we're told these burns are very severe. we do have calls into the burlington county prosecutor's office to get more inform

nbc 10's matt delucia is live in philadelphia. what have you learned from investigators about this deadly triple shooting? >> reporter: we are right behind that home on the 4600 block of vista street. that's it right there. police tell us that the girlfriend one of the victims walked into that back door late last night and discovered three men shot in the head. i've been talking with folks around here who never imagined something like this would happen. on the front door of this home is a sign that reads "trespassers will be shot survivors shot again." police say they were called by a neighbor just before 11:30 who heard that girlfriend screaming. police say she found one man lying on the kitchen floor, then walked into the living room and found her boyfriend and another man on a couch. all three of them were shot in the head and all three were pronounced dead at the scenes. right now, police have no motive and no suspect. one of the neighbors out here didn't think he'd wake up to this. >> i haven't noticed anything. i don't know

let's check in now with matt de delucia. he's been live for thus morning in horsham and, matt i understand that you've really been talking to drivers and talking to the guys who have been plowing out there. what are they telling you? >> reporter: rosemary we have seen quite a bit of an improvement over the past hour or so. we're here along 611 in horsham south of county line road. you can see we are seeing more vehicles come through this road as we get into the dawn hours. we also are seeing a lot of the plow trucks like this one out here plowing the wawa parking lot. we've been seeing crews come up and down the road. because we've had a bit of a lull in the precipitation, we've had a bad,s wintry mix throughout the morning. that has really let up in the last couple of hours. the plow crews have been able to sort of get the upper hand on this whole thing and start plowing what is down there on the roads right now but it is that slushy sloppy mix. i just want to show you what we've been seeing throughout the morning. we've had

nbc 10's matt delucia has been live at the scene all morning. matt at this point it appears that there is no threat or concern to the public. >> that is correct, rosemary. i spoke with csx within the hour. they told me 11 tanker cars containing crude oil derailed here shortly after 3:00 this morning. step out of the way. you can see over this fence here. this is right under i-95 and a few minutes ago, crews were out there trying to get these cars back on track. you might still be able to see those tanker cars right there that were affected. take a look at video. earlier this was treated as a hazmat situation and roads were closed here in south philadelphia because it wasn't clear at first if the oil was leaking. but it was later determined there was no leak and no hazard to the area. we're right by the stadium, right by lincoln financial field. i said this was on the other side of i-95. fortunately, were there no injuries and no other train activity is being affected because of this. csx tells me this is an unusual incident as far as derailments

matt delucia live. what do you know about witnesses tollefson is planning to call. >> reporter: there are upwards of two dozen witnesses for tollefson's defense. he's expected to begin his testimony today. the trial started last week. during that time prosecutors called witnesses who claim tollefson stole money for them in exchange for charity sports vacations that did not exist. prosecutors say that number totalled more than $300,000. among the witnesses expected to be called in his defense, one of them is the eagles vice president of football operations howie rosemund. sources say he's not happy being called a defense witness. not sure how long this phase will last. last year prosecutors offered two to ten years in prison. right now tollefson is representing himself with the assistance of a stand-by attorney. we will be following this throughout the day. for now live in doylestown i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >>> we have new information about a deadly crash that killed a 10-year-old boy. the mother

matt delucia has been traveling the roads in delaware county. he is live in woodland. tell us what's happening there where you are. >> reporter: it is snowing out here. we have seen several of the trucks that are spreading salt here along mcdade boulevard. we're just off i-95. this parking lot here we got here 6:30 this morning. it was virtually dry. now you can see there's a good layer of snow. i've been talking with the delaware county counsel. they have not declared a snow emergency today. but the municipalities are taking measures to treat the roads as necessary. in the past hour or so the emergency management office says it has dealt with a handful of accidents. nothing out of the ordinary other than more congested roads. peco is reporting fewer than 100 customers are without power. fortunately, the snow is very light and fluffy. you can brush it right off the car. you can tell with this parking block that we got a little more than just a coating. but the roads are still a little bit slick. we're seeing the cars going a little bit slower today. take it easy. be ca

nbc10's matt delucia is live at the penndot yard. att it's still dry but crews are already out on the roads, right? >> reporter: they have been rosemary, since about 7:00 this morning. really as more of a precaution. right over there behind me you can see some of the 105,000 tons of salt ready for what winter brings us. i just spoke with the assistant montgomery county maintenance manager. he tells me 150 trucks will bey on the road salting as needed. the trucks will be out on i-76, blue route and the interstates in the five-county area of pennsylvania. they did put brine solution just to be safe. again, we're expecting some rain in many parts, but also for the north and west some wintry mix up there. we haven't seen a whole lot of these trucks out there so far this season. only for a couple of nuisance storms. >> just for the public out there, be careful. take your time. if you see our trucks out there, stay back. don't try to go around them. if it does start freezing rain it's going to be slick out there. >> reporter: now it looks v

. >> we check in with nbc 10's matt delucia. matt, it looks like the flakes are getting a little bit heavier. >> reporter: yeah, we're seeing a little bit more heavier snow rosemary and chris. the flakes are bigger. you can see there's still more accumulation out here on the boardwalk and not a whole lot of activity out here either but you can see all the snow that is falling out here right now as we look up at caesars here. you can see in the light, it's falling. we have a light breeze which is making things feel a little bit colder. now, within the past couple of hours, we took a drive through atlantic city taking a look at the conditions on the roads. they have been pretreated. mostly wet right now. they are slick but passable. only a few cars because the statewide travel ban is still in effect. we have a lot of people still working. casinos and hotels still in operation. they still have guests. but even at this hour we have some folks outside shoveling and plowing. >> my boss has got me doing it. there's a storm. as i sweep,

live in the holmesburg section of the city is nbc 10's matt delucia, who has been talking to both investigators and neighbors. matt? >> reporter: yeah, rosemary. the big question right now is who pulled the trigger. that is the home on the 4600 block of vista street. that back door is where police say the girlfriend of one of the victims walked in and made that terrible discovery. gary anderson lives just feet away from the home where three men were shot dead. their bodies discovered by a woman checking in on her boyfriend. >> she comes down and basically was trying to call him and text him and no response. >> reporter: philadelphia police say it was just before 11:30 last night, that girlfriend walked to the back. the door was unlocked, and right there on the kitchen floor, one man was shot in the head. then she goes to living room and sees two more men shot dead on a couch. one of them was her boyfriend. >> we don't know if it was a lone shooter or a group of males. >> on the front of the home is a sign that reads trespassers will be shot. survivors shot again. right now it's unclear exactly

matt delucia is live in center city this morning. you talked the city and state officials about how they are handling this danger? >> reporter: vai, it's that time of the year when we start to see ice, especially after precipitation like we're getting right now. but take a look at this video on kelly drive this weekend. this is just north of brewery hill. our cameras captured the large icicles. some 3 to 4 feet long over the travel lanes. now kelly drive is main tainted by the city and i started to ask questions. the parks and recreation committee said they monitor this location during the season and remove several icicles and did so on friday. we got this video on saturday. we spoke to them on i-76 near penn's landing that seems to be a trouble spot. penndot says a crew was out over the weekend knocking the ice down. the concern is whether the ice falls onto a moving car, but people who drive in the area say the potential danger is easy to overlook. >> it's scary. you know you just have to think about where you're driving at and kno

nbc 10's matt delucia is live in atlantic city. snow stopped falling there a little more than an hour ago. how is the cleanup going now? >> reporter: well the cleanup continues at this hour vai. i'll tell you, along the shoreline in atlantic city we got a couple of inches of snow. big relief to a lot of the folks around here. take a look at this video we shot earlier this morning. the roads were a little slick as the snow continued falling. it was nonstop throughout the night. a bit heavy at times. but manageable. you figure the hotels and casinos stayed open during the state of emergency. the state wide travel ban in new jersey was lifted at 7:00 this morning. talking with the new jersey department of transportation they tell me they had 2500 salt crews and plows on the roads today. and the biggest problem was a few downed power lines, but most people took the travel ban seriously and stayed home. and that enabled the trucks to clean up the highways faster. as we take another live look out here on the atlantic city boardwalk, the

that's where nbc 10's matt delucia is right now. how are things looking? >> reporter: the snow is continuing to fall. i'll give you a look. the plows have been by in the past few minutes, but as you can see while we were driving up coating in many spots, but the?a had it happen with previous snowstorms where cars could not get down. they've become stuck, stranded. >> reporter: and back out here on the boardwalk, you can see the snow is very light and fluffy. you can see over here the tracks of the plow that just went through here. this was about 10 or 15 minutes ago. you can see the snow falling right now. 's starting to accumulate once again out here. the plows are coming through, just trying to clear this boardwalk but it is very slick out here because there's no treatment out here on the board. so you've about got to be careful while you're walking out here. it can get very slick. the temperatures obviously below freezing. it is cold out here. you've got the wind coming off the ocean and it's making things feel a lot worse out here. we're going to stay

nbc 10's matt delucia is live on the scene at 12th and jefferson streets. matt, what is the latest?rter: well, vai, the big question is who did this and why? we do know the victim is a 56-year-old woman. i'll step out of the way, you can see there is an active crime scene behind us here at the corner of 12th and jefferson. take a look we also have video from skyforce10 above the scene early on. this happened around 9:15 this morning. police had search dogs out here a little while ago, scouring the area. now, the victim was right by a bus stop at the corner where she was shot in the head. the past two and a half hours, police have been looking for leads. there is a bus we can see out here parked at the scene. we do know that detectives are trying to get some clues, possibly surveillance video that may have captured what happened. this scene is about two to three blocks south of temple university's main campus. the school did send out an alert to students and staff this morning. but being so close to campus there are students who live in this area. i spoke with one temple student who

nbc 10's matt delucia live in spring guard then evening. matt, police are telling you that witnesses played a major part in this arrest, right? >> that is right, a married couple happened to be here at the right place at the right time to help rescue this woman and police meanwhile are happy to have a suspect off the streets and are now issuing a warning to anyone looking for a convenient place to park. >>> a lot of courage to get involved anymore in these days. >> that's exactly what philadelphia police say a man and woman did yesterday morning. just after 10:30 here at 17th and callowhill inside a parking garage a 33-year-old woman was approached and attacked. police say it was this man, 32-year-old steven woodson who violatently beat choked dragged and raped the woman. >> his victim might not be able to talk to us today if it wasn't for our two witnesses. >> reporter: police say the witnesses were instrumental to finding woodson less than 15 minutes later. there's no surveillance video of the attack itself though parking garages are a com

n nbc 10's matt delucia is live. it was a ghost town earlier. i imagine it has not changed a lot. >> reporter: it has not. i've only seen a handful of people within the past couple of hours, but within the past 30 minutes i spoke with the emergency coordinator for atlantic city. he told me the road crews, salting crews plows have been out all night. they're still out there. as you take a look at the boardwalk, you can see the accumulations that have formed out here since the snow started falling but he called this a weird storm and they hope for safety sake the storm will begin to taper off as the morning continues. we took a right up here. most of the streets here in atlantic city, they appear to be just wet. so right now the snow is just falling. the accumulationings here range from a coating to about an-inch. keep in mind a travel ban is still in effect for new jersey. but the casinos and hotels, they're still open. we've only seen a handful of people but we're going to stay out here. mat delucia live from "nbc 10 news." >>> only a light snow

nbc 10's matt delucia has been monitoring the situation. tell us what's happening right now. >> reporter: rosemary seconds ago i was on the phone with csx. they tell many i a crew is out here responding to the derailment. 11 cars did rerail just after 3:00 containing crude oil. we moved closer to the scene in the past 30 minutes. we'll give you a look at what's been going on out here. fire trucks left a little more than 30 minutes ago. the area around 11th and patterson by lincoln financial field and the wells fargo center was shut down for about an hour. originally we could not get this close. it was considered a hazmat situation early on. it was found these derailed cars were not leaking. and we have seen other trains moving on other tracks. it is not a complete shutdown here. and that csx spokesperson tells me that passenger service in the area is not affected either. and at this point, it is still under investigation. so we'll give you another live look out here. some of the crews already responding. the cars did not leave the track. so

live in wilmington i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >> thanks matt. philadelphia area home to the largest dr. king day event in the nation. we are right here at gerard college in philadelphia this morning. we found mayor michael nutter and bob casey lending a hand. this is the signature project at the start of the day. thousands of volunteers taking part in community projects all across the region. mayor nutter attended another dr. king day event in philadelphia. spoke to the crowd at the martin luther king, jr. recreation center. more than 100 volunteers turned out here to help clean up the facility. this brought together arts and cultural organizations. the volunteers as you see here painting a mural. because this is a federal holiday, schools are closed post offices and government offices are also closed. so are many banks in the area. also, a number of dr. king events happening all across the area today. here are just a few of them. a re-enactment march starting at 4:00 in southwest philadelphia on woodland avenue. it will be followed by dr. king'

nbc10's matt delucia live in old city. as we approach next year's presidential campaign does the democrats say anything today about hosting the convention in philadelphia? >> reporter: well, renee, not much about that. we do know members fortunate dnc were here this week taking another look. the house members today for the most part were focused on what they want to accomplish or at least what they hope to accomplish with a republican majority. after three days of speeches in closed-door meetings, house democrats are leaving philadelphia on a positive note. >> what a wonderful city for many purposes. and this meeting certainly went off very well. >> reporter: house leader nancy pelosi would not say if one of those purposes would be the democratic national convention next year. right now finalists also include columbus, ohio, and new york city. the vice chair of the house democratic caucus from new york took a jab. >> i look forward to welcoming the mayor and the entire pennsylvania delegation to new york for the 2016 conve
