and matt dowd is here, founder of country over party. before we dive in, i have been hearing from people across the country, across my life in politics and news, and i just want all your reactions. donna edwards, you first. >> it is extraordinary, nicolle, at that we have now your neighbor, your co-worker, the person on the street who can now enforce and enforce against you your constitutional right to an abortion. that is what the women of texas face, but it's not just in texas. it really goes to the heart of our constitutionally protected right to an abortion for all women across the country. and the supreme court didn't just punt, they gave away a constitutionally protected right. >> matt dowd, this is your state. you've been calling out its leaders for a long time. with this law i described as a medieval state of affairs. it feels like gender apartheid on the medical front for women. what's going on in texas? >> well, i woke up this morning and i stayed pissed off, i have to say, and i'm still angry. i didn't think i could get more a

>> what do we do, matt dowd? >> well, to me, what do we do?only thing i can think of is, one, shows like yours. other panelists speaking the truth, trying to convey that. but that's not enough, because we've been trying to do that for four or five years and it hasn't been enough. to me, it's worsened. we've worsened after the 2020 election, which i thought was the most important election in our history. i think 2022, we're going to confront this more than ever, the soul of our country, and the elements of our democracy are at stake in 2022, and 2022 is by far way more important than 2020, because what happens if the republicans win in 2022? it means that everything they've done, january 6th, all the things that have happened, all the way they've conducted themselves in the aftermath of the 2020 election, they're going to be let loose with no reins if they get power back, because there's no constraint on them at that point. zero constraint on them at that point. so, to me, speak truth, but honestly, vote democratic from the top to the bottom to

matt dowd is still here. you have had a busy week.e about this hearing. >> it was to shine a light on the weaponization of the shadow docket by this supreme court, the majority conservative supreme court that's using the shadow docket to basically push their ideaio logical agenda as exemplified by what they do in allowing the texas six-week abortion ban to take affect. >> senator, can you explain to people who maybe doesn't understand exactly how it works or why something this consequential ended up being put on the shadow docket. the me it seems like chief justice roberts has been the most vocal about not wanting the court to be dragged into politics. he did actually side with the conservatives on this. give us some of that background. >> i know that justice roberts cares about how the public perceives the court and its ability to be objective and fair. and i think this is one of the reasons that he issue a dissent in the court's decision regarding the six-we can ban. meanwhile the rest of the justices are very conservative justices,

dowd, as soon as i saw this news out of texas i was having a get me matt dowd. you are the only person who can explain this to us. this texas audit was announced literally hours after trump pushed governor abbott to do it. why is he giving into this? >> well, thanks for having me, stephanie. let me just explain for your viewers sort of what's happened in the last 24 hours here. so president trump puts out a thing saying i demand an audit of the texas elections, you know, continuing the big lie about fraud. there is no secretary of state right now so he demands the governor's only staff at the secretary of state, within hours the staff of the secretary of state put out a memo saying they're going to audit four counties, hewson, tarrant, dallas and colin. so they're auditing those four counties. there's no mystery of why they're doing those four counties because they're aimed at democrats not aimed at finding out objective data in this, but there is not a single piece of evidence in this that points to why you would audit texas or specifically why we would audit t
