joining us is matt darvass from world vision joining us from one of the towns near the epicenter of the earthquake. how hard hit is that area matt? what are you seeing there? >> yeah wolf. i cannot stress enough that this is simply an area that is not getting the attention it deserves. in the villages surrounding here we're hearing of villages of 750 people villages of 1,000 people where entire villages have been wiped off the face of mountains. helicopters are trying to get to these areas, but they are not the right helicopters, they do not have the right equipment and they are unable to land and rescue people. so we are seeing incredibly difficult circumstances here. i spoke to one man, wolf he had come to where i am a day before the earthquake, after the earthquake struck he called his wife and she said she was terrified. 70% of the buildings in their village had collapsed. their family only just escaped. he lost contact with the village and his wife at 10:00 p.m. no ones has had contact since. there was 60 to 80 people children and the elderly buried under rubble. two helicopters have tried to reach tha

investors are getting a very cold and hard look at the financial impact of a massive corruption scandal at the brazilian energy giant petrobras. mattthis state run company now reports it has lost 1.9 billion euros, which are directly attributable to the sandal. kickbacks and fake contracts hit the government hard. reporter: it was a sobering day for brazil's biggest company. new page breast ceo is trying to win -- new petrobras ceo is trying to win back credibility after the scandal. he is promising transparency and a complete investigation into the kickback scheme that ran for eight years. >> i sincerely apologize on behalf of the whole company. i hope the people of brazil will soon be able to trust us again and believe in the quality of what we deliver. we are very important to the economy and society in brazil. reporter: the corruption scandal has taken a huge toll on the economy. petrobras accounts for roughly 1/10 of the country's gdp. revelations about contract fixing, bribes and monday laundering -- and money laundering has done -- and money laundering has delivered a blow to petrobras itself. it also posted acid devaluation
