matt keller is live at sfo where they have also recovered the black boxes, matt? >> yes. we were able to do a one-on-one interview with the national transportation safety board chairman this morning. she revealed to me what her team of investigators is going to be doing today at sfo. those investigators arrived overnight at the scene. witnesses and emergency workers say the asiana flight from south korea slammed into the runway 2-8 early, breaking up its tail and catching fire before coming to a stop around 11:30 yesterday morning. ntsb investigators recovered the black boxes and the recorders and sent them to washington, d.c. they wouldn't speculate if they thought it was a mechanical error or pilot error but they will look at all possibilities. >> we will see about the crew interaction. we will look at the system, the power plants, the structures, the survivability and we will look at the airport and doing documentation as far as the airport and the environment goes. >> here's some pictures taken by the ntsb overnight of the investigators doing their first sight inspect

the mayor coroner is holding a news conference this morning and abc7 news reporter matt keller has new details. matt? >> the plane wreckage is still here at sfo although the ntsb has wrapped up the on-scene investigation by, today, we are expected to find out the exact cause of death for one of the three victims. police and fire officials confirm that 16-year-old ye mengyuan was hit and killed by a fire truck responding to the scene of the crash and the runway was covered with folk. today the san mateo coroner is holding a press conference to announce the cause and manner of her death. the "san francisco chronicle" is reporting two sources close to the investigation confirmed that she was alive when hit. the sources say the coroner investigators determine she dried of trauma as a result of being hit by a vehicle. that is ye mengyuan. they say it is not known which vehicle hit the girl but most were san francisco fire trucks stationed at the airport. as for the wreckage, the airline is paying $15,000 to sfo to store the wreckage. >> matt, thank you. oakland police say they are determine

abc7 news reporter matt keller is at the fremont bart station. matt? >>guest: bart trains are running for now. with a strike dead line a few days away, the union members have stepped up their pressure on management. union members interrupted bart general manager while addressing the american transportation association in san francisco yesterday. this video was shot by a union member. both sides are making progress in the talks but union leaders say so far, it is just with the smaller issues, the big issues such as salary and pentagon and health care are expected to be discussed today. bart is warning passengers if the unions get the pay increase they demand expect a large fare hike. a passenger we spoke with this morning feels caught up in the middle. >> it is frustrating as a passenger but what is frustrating is the back and forth and one is on vacation, someone is showing up, someone is not showing up. neither side really cares it seems too much about us. i figure i will not accident i -- i will drive. >> if there is progress in the talks they will w

abc7 news reporter matt keller is on the scene. matt?> you can see the damage done by the burglars. the owner is still heren at scene cleaning up. an alarm went off alerting the police to the stop. three burglars took two rifles and five has handguns. three suspects have been arrests. the security system helped catch the criminals. he says that some of the guns were thrown out of the vehicle but all were recovered. again, he is credit the security system with helping cash the criminals so quickly. he says the guns have been recovered by the santa clara police department and he says they are part of the investigation but he does not expect to get them back any time soon. we are reporting from santa clara for abc7 news. >> developing news from the east bay alameda county health officials plan to distribute rabies information near the oakland zoo after a girl was bitten by a rabid bat. this is video showing the teen volunteer visiting the oakland zoo on saturday when a bat flew in from outside and bit her. the bat was captured and con firme

live in oakland, matt keller, abc7 news. >> it's about the buses, matt. thank you. >>> ferries are also gearing up for a third day of expanded service to fill that hole left by the b.a.r.t. strike. abc7 news reporter katie marrzullo is live at the ferry the terminal in alameda. see some folks behind you. are they waiting? >> reporter: kristen, long lines have been forming here for these first ferries. yes, the line has formed again. the folks here now waiting for the 7:30 ferry. they're running every 45 minutes since 6:00 this morning. so the line for the 6:30 was the shortest, this line for the 7:30 ferry is growing by a couple people every few moments out here. rider who is normally take b.a.r.t. or normally take the ferry are frustrated when they arrive on the scene. some are down right angry. they tell me they're getting up hours early just to ensure they get a seat just to make sure they are on time to work. this is a longer commute than if they were on their normal b.a.r.t. train. monday and tuesday morning, san francisco bay ferry tells me they saw

. >> good morning, i am matt keller. >> the breaking news is from the east bay where a high speed chase ended when the suspects crashed the car. >> abc7 news katie marzullo is on the scene. katie? >> matt and kristen they crashed the car where i am standing at orchard. look behind us: this is what is left of the scene, an overturned fire hydrant under a police cone at the corner. it is drive the you will not believe what led up to this. look at the video of the fire hydrant after it was hit. we will try to get the video as soon as we can. a police officer at 2:15 who was patrolling at pontiac street saw someone firing a gun out of a car and we have reports that some cars, parked cars, were pit but no reports of injuries. the officer sees this is follows the person and calls to backup to pull the car over. when he pulled the car over the car gave chase. coming to end, now, where you see this video and the fire hydrant spewing water in the air in san leandro four or five miles away. the car, after a police pursuit, crashed here and people remain arrested. those who were arrested also were

matt keller is at the airport to explain how this is going to work.e at the terminal where arriving passengers may have noticed an increase in go arounds when the pilot takes a second shot at a landing. as a result, the f.a.a. is advising foreign carriers to use a g.p.s. instrument approach rather than visual approaches and the aviation consultant said this gives flying points on the computer that are considered "safe." more pilots are flying visual approaches because the commonly use the glide slope indicator was taken out of service for runway renovation. the asiana flight 214 was cleared for visual approach before it crashed. there is a concern that foreign pilots rely on automation and are not used to hand flying the plane. >> abundance of caution with what is going on and people are more aware of the situation and the f.a.a. is responding to make sure everyone is on the same page. >> the f.a.a. announcement is less than a week since the go around involving taiwan based eva airlines when there was an aborted handing on tuesday after flying in too

abc7 news reporter matt keller will have more next half hour. >> new details in a major wildfire in southern california with firefighters working through the night battling a tough blaze. they made progress. evacuation orders have been lifted for two areas but one area is under mandatory evacuation near palm springs which now is at 35 square miles and destroyed at least half a dozen homes. new photos are emerging of the suspect in the boston marathon bombing suspect in response to the "rolling stone" cover, the august issue features surviving suspect sparking criticism with some saying it glorifies an accused terrorist and protests caused a police photographer to release photos from when he was taken into custody and posted them on-line. he raised his shirt to show he has no weapons and you can see he is injured and bloodied and you can see the sites of a sniper on his forehead. the massachusetts police say the photographer who shot the photo was relieved of duty for a day because he was not authorized to release the photographs. >> a former san francisco crime laboratory technician is sched

abc7 news reporter matt keller is on the scene. >> people are upset at the possibility of another strike they are hoping for another or, rather, a deal by sunday. the negotiations will resume this morning starting at 9:00, and bart says they have made significant movement in the offer since the talks began claiming it doubled the salary increase and cut employee medical increases. the union calls it lies saying some workers would loss money. passengers are caught in the middle. >> the average person is not, is upset they will go on strike. who is lying? bart? or the union? >> the governor can order a cooling off period if in deal is reached by the sunday deadline and the union has to give 72 hours notice if it is going to go on strike. >> happening now, army private bradley manning is in a maryland courtroom for the sentencing phase of the court-martial and faces up to 13 years in prison. a judge found the 25-year-old guilty of 20 charges including espionage and was acquitted of the most serious charge which was aiding the enemy which would mean life in prison. he could testify about the

i'm matt keller in for katie marzullo. let's start with a quick first look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. how is it look out there, lisa? >> good morning. we have some cooler afternoon highs. a little below average. right now by the delta with the suggest west wind, 56 degrees. live more at 56. 53 los gatos and low 50s with not much in the way of fog in santa rosa. we are cooler this morning anywhere from five degrees of cooling down around san jose. four degrees by the delta and cooler by the san carlos airport and in hayward. this afternoon we will enjoy another mild afternoon with sunshine inland. numbers in the upper 70s to low 80s. it will be partly sunny to mostly cloudy at our coast with mid-and upper 50s. around the bay you will notice a few clouds, but otherwise a nice mild afternoon with upper 60s to near 70 in oakland today. the numbers come up just modestly tomorrow into the early part of next week. that will bring us back to a few 90ths inland. i'll have the details in a few minutes. matt. >>> thanks, lisa. developing news in san francisco. fi
