on the today show this morning, they spoke with matt lauer about common symptoms and how to diagnose it. >> if there's a parent sitting at home right now trying to decide whether they have a child who's energetic or who has adhd, that's the new way we say a.d.d., what would say to look for in terms of common symptoms. >> differentiating normal from impairing levels, it's three times as much. we look for a long-standing consistent history of inattention, hyper activity, and impulsivity. each of those has a number of ways we can look for symptoms or behaviors that characterize those. >> when we show a list of symptoms like those on the screen, does the child have to have all of those symptoms or one or two of the symptoms? >> great question. we have a list of nine symptoms and between a parent report and the teacher report, we look for six out of the nine to be above and beyond what would be expected in typical development. >> while there is no cure for adh drks dr. curtis says that treatments including behavior therapy, appropriate medication and parent training can help control the s

in his first interview since health care's passage with the "today" show's matt lauer, it was pointed out to the president he was promising bipartisan leadership and change the tone in washington. instead, it was premised, he signed into law health care law that did not receive a single republican vote. >> i think that the republican party made a calculated decision, a political decision that they would not support whatever we did. all right. there was a quote by a well-known republican senator who said this is going to be obama's waterloo. this is -- we're going to bring him down the same way we brought down bill clinton, by making sure that health care fails. and i think that's unfortunate because when you actually look at the bill itself, it incorporates all sorts of republican ideas. a lot of commentators said this is similar to the bill that mitt romney, the republican governor and now presidential candidate passed in massachusetts. a lot of the ideas in terms of the exchange, just being able to pool and improve the purchasing power of individuals in the insurance market. that or
