san jose mayor matt mahan plan to combat homelessness is taking a major blow during the last city council meeting the board rejected his plan for increased funding for shelters may and campaigned on a promise of reducing encampments. and he argued the city's 5.2 billion dollar spending plan needed to include a stronger effort to move the city's unsheltered residents off the streets. last night we talked to the mayor about what the city council did pass. >> on homelessness, we did move 27 million dollars in to solutions in his quiver bill modular apartments that are working at san jose just saw a 10% reduction in street homelessness year-over-year because we're investing in quick build apartments. they don't cost a million dollars and take 5 years to build. we get people indoors faster and connected to services. but as you alluded to, i pushed the council, put 50 million dollars into strategy and give us some runway and some scale. unfortunately, we're just going to have to continue to have this fight because it is not enough what we secured in this last budget vote. >> at last count, city
