let's go over to matt pelman see how things are looking for the commute. . >> on this tax day so far not too taxing matt and tam. as we head to the suburbs early this wednesday morning things look nice even here on the schuylkill expressway which saw its fair share of problems yesterday morning that's for sure but this morning things are nice and dry, all lanes are opened here in both directions by the blue route, 476 so we're not complaining. at least not yet. but we'll be able to complain about some construction in a bunch of spots today. let me warn you about where the zones are going to be so that you don't head in direction in northampton bucks county from 8:00 until 3:00 they're closing worthington mill road between second street pike and swamp road a bit to the north so to get around that blockage stay over on 2,322nd street pike as your alternate. and like yesterday in britton route 13 the bristol bypass will close again today starting at 7:00 until 3:00 between 413 by the wal-mart and bath road so locally otter street is an alternate. milling and p

. >> see how it's rolling on a friday night or not with matt pelman. hey, matt. >> an accident is paving the way for a really rotten ride home monica and sharrie. on the northeast extension 476 northbound side the crash is down by the lansdale interchange, still more than a half hour later taking out the right lane. you know what that means speeds like 17 and just 9 miles per hour as you come north of plymouth meeting and the mid-county tolls this afternoon. at this point i would say you probably want to avoid this stretch of 476 northbound. there are those traffic lights on 309 northbound instead. this is 76 the schuylkill expressway eastbound very slow driving from 202 into approaching the blue route. we've got what appears to be some sort of argument, a couple having an argument along the side of the schuylkill expressway attracting some attention. so, not the best place to have your argument and it's slowing down traffic a little bit extra this afternoon. but our crash on the lincoln drive by gypsy lane as well as the broken down bus on the boulevar

matt pelman keeping an eye for us in the "action news" traffic center. n you want to have a good friday evening you may want to pass over route 309 northbound in montgomeryville. we still have the crash and downed pole. they're working to make repairs but the northbound lanes remain closed here at the five points intersection. the good news is the southbound lanes here by the lowes home improvement store just reopened so you're getting by once again as you head down towards fort washington but if you're traveling on the turnpike headed towards fort washington watch out. there's a crash approaching the interchange on the shoulder giving us speeds like 13 miles an hour by the norristown interchange on the eastbound turnpike. in somerton watch out for a wreck along byberry road at bustleton avenue. it's not the nicest light knight out there. lights on at citizens bank park going ready for an exhibition baseball game. that means slow speeds on 95 by broad street and the schuylkill eastbound by girard just 18 miles an hour. looking at really slow speeds on 95

matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center with the upday. things to a talk about. right here the roosevelot boulevard extension northbound side just north of the ridge avenue on-ramp, can you see the broken down what appears to be a cct connect bus taking out the left lane giving us really stacked conditions coming north of the schuylkill expressway through this point by the ridge avenue on-ramp. that just popped up. no emergency crews on the scene yet with that disabled bus. now, we had a disabled truck here along 95, northbound side, second dv of the afternoon in the work zone by girard avenue. they got the trucked to away so the lanes are opened once again but still extra heavy. 38 minutes should ideally be 14 on the northbound side of 95. there's also a crash on lincoln drive by gypsy lane there by the old intond precinct. doesn't appear to be causing huge delays at the moment. traffic light troubles at 58th and haverford. they've given up on those traffic lights, just have temporary stop signs in lieu of them. in king of prussia a crash

[laughter] >>> an awful lot of traffic by the roosevelt boulevard especially westbound sitting at 44 minutes when ideally it should be 14 to get from the vine through this point out to the blue route. and expect the schuylkill in this area to be busy much of the weekend. i think a lot of people will be headed to the zoo and during the day saturday and sunday both the mlk and kelly drives will be closed so people are going to be heading for 76 as an alternate. if you're heading for 95 northbound this afternoon, it's extra heavy because of a broken down vehicle by the betsy ross bridge taking out a lane. still have that crash in wyncote along 309 southbound at easton road by acadia but now it's off to the side so both lanes reopened. watching a motorcycle accident in lower frederick along goshen road and we still have the crash in buena along brewster road at route 40

. >> all of those changes are definitely going to affect traffic and affect matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. >> going to be a busy man at least through 2019. >> oh, yes job security is what they call that. yes, good afternoon to you brian and shirleen. yeah, we won't be saying all is fine on the vine i guess for a couple of years now but this afternoon all is relatively fine, it's just busy a little heavy westbound and definitely heavy eastbound across town from the schuylkill to 95. this is where they are scheduled to shut down 676 starting tonight at midnight between the schuylkill and broad street. they're going to be segment up the barriers. they're going to be taking away the shoulders of the road which you know that never goes well when there's an accident in the work zone and no shoulder to pull it off onto. when they close the vine during the overnight hours the schuylkill and 95 will take the brunt of the detouring traffic along with the local city streets right there. so, some changes in the works for sure and of course we'll keep you posted as the days end ye

. >> let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. att. >> these aren't minor tiny trouble spots. the trouble spots today brian and shirleen have been crazy on the roads. this afternoon though we're just dealing with minor degrees here on the schuylkill expressway. we had an earlier crash westbound by city avenue that just cleared out. westbound traffic by the boulevard starting to move. still look aght slow travel times either way either really about double what they ideally should be but at this point nothing absurd on the schuylkill expressway. we have a crash we're watching on the pennsylvania turnpike it's the eastbound direction this afternoon coming away from plymouth meeting the crash is at fort washington taking out one lane. that stretch between plymouth meeting and fort washington you're looking at speeds just in the teens right now. in solebury bucks county a watch out for a wreck along york road a at street road. a closure in lower providence of south park avenue because of the major mess from about 6 o'clock this morning.

matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center with an update as people head off to grandma's house ly, no plague of frogs out there this evening but we are being plagued by some traffic. wish we could kind of part the sea of traffic here by montgomery driver on the schuylkill expressway but no can do. you're going to have to sit through some heavy volume as you travel eastbound in towards s-westbound the travel time even slower at 42 minutes as you get from the vine through this point out to the blue route. on the big picture you can see 95 has equally slow speeds. 19 miles per hour traveling southbound by girard avenue. we're watching a couple of new crashes now. there's one in south philadelphia at 28th and passyunk. also have one on the boulevard southbound at adams avenue in the inner drive there by the old navy. and we still have the situation in montgomeryville. 309 shut down in both directions because of a crash that brought down a pole. you can see it right here. the closures at the five points intersection by the lowes home improvement store so horsham road is taking the br

matt pelman with an update for us. >> i have sort of a copycat situation unfortunately where a vehicle ran into a pole with downed wires here in chester county brian and shirleen. that pole is leaning maybe you'll be able to see it over there. the accident right there. it's all unfolding on the northbound side of 202 between dillworthtown road and greentree drive. crews are out here trying to make repairs but they've got a lane blocked in both directions. so, just one direction of travel getting by either way here on 202 south of west chester which means especially if you're coming northbound from painter's crossing you're going to hit a solid parking lot headed up toward west chester this afternoon. several suburban accidents otherwise. one in montgomery township at dekalb pike. cheltenham along west church road at washington lane. on the big picture a vehicle broke down on the southbound side of 95 at the work zone at girard. that's gone but still looking at speeds in the teens as you travel towards that scene and center city. not much better. even a little worse over on the schuylki

let's go check on matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. how is it looking? >> all day long it's been a mess on these roads with the heavy rain this morning brian and shirleen. this afternoon we're drying out but still we have some huge delays out there. as far as tomorrow goes with the veep you want to avoid the area around peco headquarters at market and 23rd during the midday. >>> expect market to be blocked off or at least temporarily blocked off coming weigh from 30th street station. chestnut and walnut can take some of the detouring traffic but market during the midday probably not where you want to find yourself. here on 95 it's a very slow go especially on the southbound side with an earlier broken down vehicle right in the work zone approaching the vine street expressway. got us off to a bad start this afternoon on 95 southbound. and-like the plague avoid ridge avenue through east falls and manayunk this afternoon. they're still attempting to did that paving work an a very long stretch of ridge avenue. portions are blocked off including the eastbound

dave murphy has the accuweather forecast and matt pelman is filling in for karen. >> that had to be atty good rant for it to set a record for baseball managers because there have been a full over the years. double scan shows you there are a couple of light sprinkles and showers north and west of philadelphia. it's possible we see a bit of there as we go through the morning hours. i think the better chance is later this afternoon and right out to the west we are starting to see some pretty good showers pop up and as we get into the afternoon and things get a little bit milder ahead of that approaching front we are looking at the possible development of some thunderstorms and where these hit at some point this afternoon the big concern with these, i mean, yes they'll produce lightning and brief downpours but a real high risk of strong gusty winds perhaps gusting 40 to 50 miles per hour. not quite severe parameters but we'll warn you to make sure you secure trash cans if you can before you leave today because at some point this afternoon that roars through and where they hit they'll prod

let's head on over to meteorologist dave murphy and matt pelman who is taking a look at traffic. good morning. >> good morning, everybody. looks like it's going to be a pretty nice one. some left overclouds but most of that is beginning to punch a lot of holes and we're beginning to see a lot of evaporation that of cloud cover. 52 degrees in philadelphia. some of the suburbs in the upper 40's millville at 49, wilmington at 48, 48 in trenton and 49 in allentown. little bit of a breeze blowing down out of the northwest. and as we take a who outside catching that school bus between 6:00 and 8:00 49 by 6 o'clock, 54 by 8 o'clock. little cool, perhaps a little on the breezy side and a few clouds hanging around early. nice tuesday overall for kids heading back to school or if you're just heading to work. 52 degrees on your storm tracker six app right now and up to 54 by 8 o'clock so kind of cool in through here. but 62 by noon and by 3 o'clock 68 and we're going to see a high of 69. that's going to be late in the day around 4 o'clock 5 o'clock before we slide back to 68 by 6 o'clock. l

let's get the latest one more time from matt pelman. >> hi, matt what's up. >> we're catching our breathsy morning and midday rick and monica. this afternoon most of the roads are dry and at this point it's just normal afternoon volume. here on 76 the schuylkill expressway, but you know of course there's going to be some afternoon jams like the one here westbound by city avenue. across the river on ridge avenue we had a lot of midday construction as well as an accident involving a pedestrian closer to wissahickon transportation center. it sounds like all the activity associated with that crash is now out of the way but at the very least you're still looking at a very bumpy ride along ridge avenue through that neck of the woods. we do still have a crash involving a pedestrian in lower salford montgomery county along bell lane at moyer road in the neighborhood. the crash in northern delaware at barley mill that just cleared but the ramp from churchman's road to 95 southbound is still closed from the overturned truck from this morning. maybe use the ramps at 141 instead. rick and monica bac

. >> let's take it live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center. what do you have matt. >> it's that time of the afternoon when we sit in big traffic jams pretty much every day, monica and sharrie and this afternoon they're even a little bit extra heavy as so many people do want to be out and about on such a nice afternoon. here is one of the biggies, 95 in delco stacked from the state line approaching the blue route. a crash on the shoulder that has been attracting some attention. southbound on 95 you too have an accident to contend with right by the blue route, that one in the gore pointer. this is the delay that it's causing that northbound accident coming northbound from the state line. definitely slow. about double, even a little more what it should be on that northbound travel time. and we still have that overturned trash truck. as you come out of east falls and try to get on the city avenue bridge the ramp from kelly drive outbound and ridge avenue westbound to the southbound side of city avenue remains closed. you can use the falls bridge to
