area but we're going to get started with meteorologist karen rogers who is in for dave murphy and matt pelman is watching the roads. good morning. >> good morning. we've braced ourselves. >> we have. now here we go and the morning commute is not the worst of it that we're seeing right now so you really need to be careful later in the day if you think you're going to venture out now. let's take a look at storm tracker6 live 3-d. we can see the storm system just beginning to take shape. this is just the beginning of the precipitation that we're seeing building along the coastline. there's a lot of moisture to work with from down the south you're going to pull in moisture from the ocean so we're going to have a significant amount of moisture and therefore some very heavy snowfall throughout much of the day. so this is a high impact event. it peaks in the daytime today t so although we're seeing precipitation now it really peaks later on today. the heaviest snow will continue to fall north and west. the strongest winds will be at the coastline. let's talk about what we expect with this storm syst

we have live team coverage of the winter storm with reporters across the area and matt pelman is giving us traffic. >> karen rogers in for dave murphy. >> you say the kids are saying oh, yeah but my kids are sick of the snow. they're like let's move on with this. winter is not done with us. let's take a look at storm tracker6 live 3-d. there's a lot of moisture to work its way through our region and this is just the beginning. we can see the beginning of this nor'easter which is really going to intensify later on this afternoon. let's talk about some of the key points here. this is a high impact event. you need to be careful as you're planning your day and kind of staying off the roads, if you can. the peak is during the day time. not during the morning commute. so when you wake up and you're seeing some snowfall in parts of the region, this is just the beginning. the peak doesn't happen until later on. the heaviest snow will be north and west of the city. the strongest winds will be at the coast but even in the city we could see winds near 40 miles an hour. you add that with heavy snow

now, let's turn to matt pelman for a look at the rest of the traffic. wrath. tree 091 of those heavy bands of snow came roaring through. a it was almost a whiteout for a little bit. snow is really coming down and as you can see it did coat the roadway. 309 here by english village. you can get by. you can see the lane but there's definitely a lot of slush and snow on them by now which is going to change because all morning long we've seen mainly wet conditions and that's still the case here on 95 although we're not sure how long it's going to be the case in northeast philadelphia. snow still coming down. traffic on 95 is moving okay. here on the schuylkill expressway seeing our first accident on 76 of the morning. it's the westbound side by gulf mills. sticking out into the right lane there but at least the lanes are passible at this point. a vehicle ran off the road in salem county off the southbound side of the turnpike so you have to take it easy because it is definitely slippery in spots, matt. >> okay, matt, thanks. david is off. meteorologist karen

we've got traffic with matt pelman. as you know i come down lincoln drive and how many downed trees can you see. >> it's like a war zone through there. it's been closed much of the last few days. >> it has and we have the risk for more trees falling because of the heaviness of the snow that's coming. winds won't be quite as bad with this storm and storm tracker satellite six and action radar showing us right now that we can still see that nor'easter, the last one sitting and spinning. it's pushed farther off the coast. we've got clear conditions for you today but those clouds are pretty quickly going to increase. let's start off with looking at the numbers right now. it's 27 in allentown, it's only 25 in reading, so even colder than yesterday morning. 29 in wilmington, below freezing through the i-95 corridor. in south jersey upper 20's in millville and atlantic city. the wind chill won't be quite as much of a factor today. the winds are relaxing a little bit but we are going to see the increasing clouds through the day
