fight back in january, things got so heated, one republican member of congress, mike rogers, lunged at another, mattd had to be held back by his face that's the way you hold your dog back with one hand while you're paying the pizza guy with the other. [ laughter ] "i'm sorry i'm sorry, you know what just -- just keep the change thank you. no!" and then during the most recent round of chaos, there was reportedly so much screaming and name-calling that members felt they had to call a recess before an actual fight broke out. >> jake, i'll be really candid i think if we had stayed together in the meeting last night, i think that you would have seen fists thrown and i'm not being dramatic when i say that there is a lot of raw emotions right now. i think it was best to let folks go back home, decompress a little bit, and then come back together >> seth: well, it definitely worked there was only one physical assault and one threat of physical violence, so congrats, republicans, you did it. that's what you meant, right "jake, i think we need to let folks go back home, decompress, then come back to the capit

remember the stuff on the floor with mike rogers and matt gaetz and richard hudson, another congressmand to pull mike rogers from alabama, away from gaetz when we saw that fight in january. we have seen this throughout this congress. republicans are fighting over the future of their party, the future of their party is at stake here. and it's the tension inside their party. their enemies, in fact, their enemies the moderates in their own party are more of an enemy than the democrats are, which is just -- that's what it's become. >> and by moderates, actually there are so few moderates there, if any, you're really talking about people who don't want to burn the institution down. moderates -- when i was there, meant something completely different, even ten years ago meant something completely different. now, what moderate means is somebody that doesn't want to burn the place down, destroy the institution. a moderate is somebody who wants to get things done. i do have to say, just to follow up on comer, comer has proven absolutely nothing. going back to the wall street editorial page about

had to get through the speaker vote in january, you had mike rogers from alabama, he had to be grabbed on the floor because he would go punch matt gaetz or something. i mean, this whole congress we've seen this kind of emotion in the house especially house republicans. it is right there, it is right beneath the surface. and, you know, it just comes out in myriad ways. it is really kind of unbelievable. >> yeah, only that last exchange was a pure republican against a democrat in congress, which is what we are used to seeing. mar markwayne mullin, ultimately bernie sanders had to intervene and say hey, man, let's not do this. but mullin went to the cameras and said he's not done with this. take a look. >> keep in mind this is not anything new. andrew jackson challenged two people, or nine people to a dual when he was president and also knocked one guy out at a white house dinner. maybe we should bring some of that back and it will keep people from thinking that they are so tough and make us sit at a table and we can actually work out our differences without poking at each other and wanting to run to cameras and call people names.
