matt? matt: thank you. let's take a look at the world movers.e has been making a quiet comeback. steelmakers in china start to boost output after the lunar new year break. 3% in these nearly session. and wti crude fell below $30 a the small gains it had tacked on for the week raised. this is after u.s. supplies raised to the highest level since 1930. solo more supply than demand. -- so a lot more supply than demand. and we speak to the head of research at bank of that oilnd he told us falls on rising u.s. inventories. freeze in oil production, coupled with russia, should be pretty positive for prices down the line. ont: let's get more insight oil now. joining me now from new york is fadel gheit. he is the senior strategist from oppenheimer. , they were at high levels were they wanted to freeze, so this wasn't like a cut. it is not going to ease the pain on oil producers. it is not going to impact supply because saudi arabia and russia are producing basically at full capacity. maxing out. so global demand continues to , the currentfore rate of pr

matt: i do.howing signs with the exception of what we're seeing today, investors are still leery of getting back into energy and high-yield debt, obviously. at least that's according to jack sherman at double line. he gave his outlook for the oil market and its affect on high-yield earlier this morning on "bloomberg ." >> you don't hold physical oil, you have to go by these contracts. it says that if the spot price for oil or the delivery doesn't change in price, you enter the contract at 35-25 and when you sell it it will be at 33, 38, real-time on the screen. with an investor that has a negative carry, you have to overcome this amount to just break even. call me old school, but i don't like buying things with negative yields, right? this is an oversupplied market, a market where people have been taught through central bank policies to buy the debt. a lot of people have been burned on this trade for many months now. >> [indiscernible] are trying to make a call, make a view. if you follow the

(matt) 28-year-old rogelio morales, of hubbard, nebraska, will go to trial for first-degree murder on september 20th. the trial was originally scheduled for march 15th, but his attorney sought an extension to allow more time to investigate the case and have morales evaluated. morales is accused of killing 21-year-old margarita morales, of south sioux city, on april 19th. court documenen say morales told investigators a fight broke out when his wife told him she no longer wanted to be in a relationship with him. rogelio morales told police he wrapped his hands around her neck, and his next memory was his wife not breathing. a weekend fire destroyed a hog business in marcus, iowa. the marcus fire chief says it started yesterday morning in the office area of hog slat, inc. no one was inside at the time the blaze broke out. the state fire marshal will be on the scene tomorrow to investigate the cause. thr

now the markets with matt.att: futures are trading down across the board on s&p dow jones and nasdaq. down oil continues to fall after yesterday, erasing all of last week's games. today we are down almost 4% at $30.48 a barrel. we expect data coming out today to show the u.s. crude stockpiles continue to grow, the glut continues to be much worse than the supply growth would make up for. take a look at my terminal, you can see the effects that crude has had on the s&p, or at least the correlation between the two. correlation in january, we haven't seen it in years. but here you see a little bit of a breakaway. and now we have s&p futures, which were up, crude coming down. it seems like today premarket could that the two back in lockstep. i want to talk quickly about google. obviously, the earnings for alphabet, the parent company beat -- let's talk first, let's go ahead and go back to those premarket movers we just saw earnings crossed for pfizer and dow. dow revenue was better than expected, and earnings blew i
