matthew daly: senator, this is matthew daly at the ap. wanted to ask you about the -- there is a big project out at denver. they are trying to build a va hospital and it is more than $1 billion over budget, which is really hard for some folks to believe anything could be that much over budget, much less only half finished. what do you think about their problems out there? do think it symbolizes the fact that the v.a. really has trouble getting anything done? senator isakson: it is a disaster. i took the senate committee to denver. we toured the entire facility, met with the contractors reviewed the progress of the project over the last 14 years. when the press in denver asked me what i thought of the hospital, i said i thought the hospital was a camel. they said, what do you mean? i said, a camel is a horse built by committee. and that is exactly what that hospital is. there are too many cooks, not enough people in the kitchen and not enough direction. not enough accountability. the v.a. does not need to be building anything. their job is

in the past hours prosecutors have announced they will seek the death penalty against jesse matthew in case the case goes to trial. what can you tell us? >> it is certainly a decision that got the attention of everybody in court, not necessarily what we acted. but the commonwealth attorney saying that there was new evidence came to light, new forensic evidence that came to light in february that compelled her office to upgrade this for my first degree murder case to a capital murder case. she would not give any details as to what the evidence is, only saying that jesse matthew was served the indictment this morning, and this was evident that came forward. forensic evidence came and propel case to move forward. he had been facing first-degree murder charges after hannah graham's disappearance in charles phil. her remains were found five weeks later in october in a rural part of the county. he was arrested a few days after. he was arrested in galveston texas. talk about this new texas, if the question as to why this question decision was made. here's what she said went into the decision-

matthew l. waddle here, the former new york new york times safety expert. you hear the conversation going on. what do you want to add? >> these are metro liner cars, purchased in the mid-'70s. they're very big and very solid and meet federal railway administration rules, which are much stricter for rules than other cars. i covered an amtrak crash in the washington area in 1996 in which an amtrak train bound for chicago hit a maryland commuter train just ripped the commuter train to shreds. and the amtrak train was dented but it was still in tact. these are big, tough train cars and generally protect the people inside. there's a second problem here which is amtrak does not own the tracks in glendale, i don't think. it certainly doesn't own the tracks in philadelphia. and if there's a problem with the track, that's amtrak problem also. amtrak has been crying for years that it needs to upgrade the northeast corridor the track where this occurred. they could have had a signal problem or a rail probl

matthew couch was 15 years old when he was hit by a mini van in march of 2013. the driver took off and left matthew with a serious head injury and a number of broken bones but after four surgeries rehabilitation and the help of chop matthew made a full recovery and he's living in life as a normal teen. the community played a big part in the healing process raising money for his family during their time of need and today the family is giving some of it back back. >> that money we're giving back to children's hospital for another family, you know, for -- i think we'll give three different areas of the hospital. for children's care and medical issues for kids. i want to leave it up to them where it's most needed. >> ed and matthew presented a check of $10,000 to the hospital today. they're also donating $5,000 for -- to friend who has breast cancer. >>> many of you pay your taxes with the expectation your personal information will be safe. >> wouldn't that be a nice thing, right? for more than 100,000 americans that is not the case. that's just at number we know of

it's important to know that george zimmerman and matthew apperson have had a beef. it dates back to the last year and some say prior to that they've had return-ins before. >> speak to the man who called 911 in a moment. that other man, matt apperson he was involved in the incident said zimmerman was waiving a gun around and threatening him. what is zimmerman's side saying? >> this is don west now, the attorney who represents george zimmerman at this time. he said george has told him, that george says he was driving down the road minding his own business when suddenly he saw behind him and heard a commotion. he looks, he sees a vehicle behind him, flashing lights a man leaning out and shouting obscenities at him, the car pulls beside george zimmerman, zimmerman rolls up the window and the next thing he knows, a bullet comes flying through. essentially you here don west saying george zimmerman is nothing but a victim here and there's no mention of him allegedly waiving a weapon which is what matthew apperson said started all of this today. >> both men had guns martin.
