august 1st, 1778 in london by matthew and mary darly, they're pretty accomplished print sellers in london. and when the -- this print was examined along side those -- there were some interesting things going on, such as the british infantry man pointing with his hand up, there are hunting shirts that linen fringe garment that is so distinctively used by the continental army during the revolutionary war, you see that in the paoli painting. you see that here again. this is offering some interesting questions, but it was a little enigmatic at the time. let's cross back over the atlantic again. sorry. so in the 1980s and '90s, an irish art historian named fintan cullen was undertaking a study of this painting, a portrait of richard st. george man sir st. george painted in about 1796.
