matthew costello april. march 4th is supposed to be the inauguration day back then, but it was april 30th. what happened? well, you know, originally march 4th is selected by the congress under the articles of confederation. and, you know, as we're moving from one form of government to another, but the ratification of the constitution. march 4th is selected as the date for the new term to begin. however, you have representatives coming from all across the young united states and many of whom are coming from somewhat remote places. you know, roads are not as accessible as they are today. transports is not as reliable as it is today. and so it takes longer than anticipated. and that's part of the reason why they shifted to march fourth is because they figured it would take longer for people to get to new york city. but even, you know, as anybody who can attest, who's been to new york in march, you know, they still get snow, as do the surrounding areas around new york. and so there's a delay in getting enough of
