matthew fogg matthew thank you so much for taking the time to speak with us today 1st things 1st your overall reaction to this case and why do you think it took so long this happened in february. well again this is a situation where i think we're all asking that question i mean they should have read at least once also it would have come onto the scene look of such words there and that this was just a bit at a few would be reckless and malicious at minimal and these gas bubbles that's no reason what they call the law and they don't and that maybe they absolutely claim they thought is god with some place but suspect would it would just no evidence the back that up and they allow these guys to go 74 days free which means you know ticket could exist there of the klan seen the whole works that that how you get investigation done if you immediately get in and and you know secured a crime scene and do your investigation so it's it's horrific and it's in its nature and it's unbelievable that this video actually sparked the investigation to even just get underway now the 2 man the father and son they're using the argument of the stand your ground law and the citizen's arrest i want you to 1st listen to the 911 call that was made about our barry listen 1st where he's wrong. what he doing. you. know what you. know what you want to be wrong. so that's the big thing is i just need to know what he was doing wrong the stand your ground law depending upon the state says that if you feel threatened and that can vary from for person to person how threatened do you feel is this law to muddy could this actually help this father and son in court or does this law do seem to be tossed out altogether. well i don't see how it could go because the guy was running away he was running away and there was chasing him so bottom line is they complained and you know. and then they confronted him with weapons which. he says i don't understand why did law enforcement charge him but also. as you say in the commission of a crime of a weapon but the bottom line is there was no stand your ground against guy was running away they they approached him and anybody needed to try to get away see you know get away from the death was the individual a suspect but he was trying to get out of where that gun that this man is point and he had no idea who these people were they had no nothing nothing to identify who they were they just jumped out on him and a man tried to rob and defend himself and in the process they descended up she just no you had added to this to stand your ground law right now an overarching theme here is police saying it's either you know these vigilantes or having connections to the police you know the father had ties to the district attorney's office and the police how do you think everyday americans are supposed to have faith in the justice system if certain people with the right connections almost walk away with no charges filed. right well you when you're talking about 74 days i mean that's just enough so i mean someone used to answer that and then the fact that when you're talking about the race it is in the video we talk about in this country right now we have this extraordinary amount disparities and those who are charged the ones who are salted those who are killed it just across the board i get a 30 years in law enforcement and i saw it in my career and you could literally see the disparities but if you people came for law enforcement officers gameport that it addresses that issue then they would be targeted but the bottom line is you look at this situation specifically you got these individuals. attacking this man like they were law enforcement people want to have a very dangerous felony fugitive and it wasn't that way at all i'm just a gentleman running along the road and they just simply claim they suspect that he had a weapon or not a weapon but they suspected that he committed some type of crime just being a suspect and they use all swat type of approach to this guy like he was somebody that was well known to be a dangerous fugitive no that's and that's what we need to be concerned with across the country but some of these shootings that we see you know some of these acts of bound by law enforcement appears to be just all was ls all the rest of. police officers that you know that should not be the people on the porch so doing what they do what even though these guys more any more the courts even though i say that this individual who was a former that was investigator with the state's attorney's office he should have known better he was an attorney he this guy around here the attorney but i know he's a former officer with them and he should have known better he sort of known the rules of engagement and how you approach anybody if you want to do it you don't approach him with guns hang it all out jumping on him and shooting the man when the man is planted don't even know you are so again this is it just seemed like it was a whole lot going on here that is it's. audience possible a lot of concerns that the public has and we've been hearing over and over again in our publics that the people are saying hey why is law enforcement even have this unfettered discretion to do what they want and these guys weren't even law enforcement but you know were acting like they were overzealous i really quickly got about 30 seconds this all came forward because of this video as i mentioned do you think this is going to have to be the scanner going forward one unarmed black man is shot and killed unless there is video now who is to say if he was shot in cold blood. what has what we are saying all along and now now in states of trying to regulate what you do it a video in effect that you can't video it's almost like they're trying to protect themselves when the video is what the public needs to see because these things going on all the time believe it and that i've been in 30 years along with i've seen a lot of incidents that because they weren't caught on video nothing was ever really done to that so it will be. and it's a it's a tricky sort of balancing act but it would have video of those guys probably enough to charge it up all right former u.s. marshal matthew dog matt thank you so much for talking to us i'm sure this is not going to last time we analyze the situation with you thanks so much. meantime in indianapolis indiana angry protesters have gathered at the scene where a police officer fatally shot another african-american man according to police officers were chasing the man driving recklessly going 90 miles an hour now once stopped police say that an alter cation occurred followed by an exchange of gunfire i don't know if you'll ever get information indicating the officer is a 3rd which appeared to be you know sad and exchanging gunfire between the officer and assisting all the suspects. sure but it goes far. now the officer has been placed on administrative leave and firefighters now in california are battling a brush fire that's already destroyed 150 acres of land officials of the blaze are ruptured on thursday along a ridge near l.a. fire crews are
