joining me now from los angeles matthew lippman, the executive director of gun safety group 97%.ning us. another day, another mass shooting. what can be done to protect communities at this stage? >> it is a good question. it's a very difficult question to answer. because there's so many guns in the united states. over 400 million guns. which means there are more guns than people. so being able to prevent mass shootings is a very difficult proposition. one which a lot of us are working on. but it's not gonna happen anytime soon. we are not gonna see many last of these mass shootings for a while until we are really able to do some things. there are things we can do. there are things we can do such as red flag laws which i think you probably know about, i don't know if your audience does, which is where somebody petitions the court to say this person is a danger and then the guidance of taken away from perhaps a year. better background checks so we have state back projects that are better than federal. that could run someone from committing a dangerous act. permitting laws and state
