this is a guy who was best friends with matthew mcconaughey, the hollywood actor.s is a man who went way beyond his sport and who people around the world looked up to as some kind of saviour. he had come back from cancer, life—threatening cancer, and every single person, no matter where you live, you knew somebody with cancer, family, a relative, you were going out and you are buying lance's book and saying read this and find inspiration. how apprehensive were you about, and let's use this word again, pursuit. the lawyers representing armstrong were consistently on your case and the case of your newspaper, the sunday times. that went for about three years, 2004, 2005, 2006. they were dominated by meetings with lawyers and discussing the case. a case that we were always going to lose because of the uk's draconian libel laws. armstrong could never sue us in america, he could never sue us in france because in those countries the burden of proof would have been on armstrong, to prove that i was lying, and i was never lying. but in this country, we had to prove that arm

[ light laughter ] of course, trump is for good press because on monday fbi director james comey both confirmed that the fbi's investigating trump's ties to russia, and debunked his unfounded claim that then-president obama wiretapped him. both the russian investigation and the wiretapping lie have been hanging over trump and his agendas. so, in an attempt to move on to other things, like the gorsuch nomination, members of trump's own party have been calling on him to apologize. >> frankly, obama is owed an apology in that regard. >> wouldn't it help if he kind of got real with everybody and said, "i -- i -- i'm sorry?" >> that needs to happen. >> yes. >> i'm going to quote my father, bob hurd, and it's something that he's told all of my friends when they've gotten married. the bad news, a celebrity endorsement works like matthew mcconaughey, when it's somebody saying buy there the minutes, i think consumers turn it off. so i think at the end of the day it's all a wash. i don't think one person is buying a sprint or a verizon phone because this celebrity is doing it, but once one does it like i said -- ? spending a lot of money for nothing. what does it mean for the consumer. >> for the consumer they're still looking for minutes. i always say the consumer is not dumb. the consumer is your wife or your husband or next-door nine. i don't think they say this is jamie foxx, i have to have that phone. i think the consumer wants the most minutes for the least amount of dollars and that's what they do. so i think at the end of the day, i don't think it's a huge difference one way or the other. i know dan is a huge taylor swift fan so that might be a different story. >> taylor swift and mark wahlberg are doing content deals around the cell phone deals but the competition is fierce. these companies have deep pockets. so how far could this go. >> once again for them
