sneezed a shocking arrest more than a decade in the making. 35-year-old new york city attorney matthew neloiles from his new jersey home, pleading not guilty to raping three different women and attempting to rape a fourth boston 15 years ago. >> aggravated rape and kidnapping in 2011. acc vated rape and kidnapping on november 22nd have 2007, aggravated in august 28th. assault to rape and assault and indecent battery in the early morning hours of december 23, 2008. >> why do you believe there's so much interest in this case. >> i think it really is concerning to people to realize that there are violent criminals that walk among us, that live what appear to be normal lives. >> i've worked a lot of serial rain cases. they tend to be smarter. sometimes they're attractive. it's interesting sometimes they don't fit the stereo type. they come from all walks of life. >> reporter: each of his alleged victims reportedly reported the assault but the dna collected went unmatched for years. >> at the time police put out an alert to warn people about this and there was a lot of concern. there was a clima

here>> tonight 35-year-old m corporate attorney matthew nelo facing a boston judge. >> how do you pleado those offenses? guilty or not guilty? >> not guilty. >> accused of sexually assaulting four women in 2007 and 2008 in the charlestown area of boston in a series of incidents that shocked the city. 15 years after the trail ran cold, authorities revisited the investigation, using forensic investigative genealogy they determined nelo, who went to school in boston at the time, was a person of interest, fbi agents placing him under surveillance. >> fbi agents were able to obtain various utensils and drinking glasses they watched the defendant use at a corporate event from one of the glasses the boston police crime lab was able to obtain a male dna profile found to match the suspect profile. >> he was arrested last week at his home in new jersey. >> anything you want to say about your fiance? >> his fiance, with him when he was arrested, ignoring questions from the press outside the courtroom. and david, authorities say that he's lived in several states. this investigation is ongoing. they

>> reporter: his name is matthew nelo, an attorney, working in new jersey across the river.ed he was 19 and a student in the boston area. he's facing a series of charges, aggravated rape, kidnapping, assault, so forth. and these crimes allegedly happened back in 2007 and through 2007 and into and through 2008, as well. four women are the accusers in these cases. the survivors in these cases. he was in court this morning, was an extradition hearing. he didn't fight it so he will head back to or to boston at some point in the near future to face these charges. the key break in the case was his own dna and the technology is not that new or sophisticated. what's new is that the authorities apparently used these databases that are associated with ancestry searches and those kinds of sites somehow to connect his dna to find family members and then that led them to their suspect. so it's sort of a backwards process but the bottom line is that these dna databases are helping authorities track down suspects. we spoke to an expert. here's what he had to stay about the reliability of d
