commissioner maufas: i want to just ask a quick question, based on something commissioner mendoza said earlier around schools having a comprehensive program besides the academics. the secondary summer program fits in that the category of questions. you may not have the answer today, but i would like to know. number one, does grant funding gives too -- give schools flexibility to do their own thing? is there a baseline where they do the same thing, so there is continuity among schools at whatever level they are hiring program and at? i also look at commissioner mendoza's question. this is grant funding, and i see the categories listed. but do they add to the complement of the academic component of summer schools, and create the more comprehensive data shown programs for students? -- day-long programs for students? >> i am glad you asked. i was about to talk about the sig grant, which is serving as an incubator about how to take money and apply its strategically. in the sig zone, they are having exactly this conversation about how to use multiple funding sources to provide a variety of p

i want to thank commissioner maufas for her leadership and virginia marshall. a number of commissioners were at sun set elementary school for read aloud day march 2nd. abraham lincoln had their b.s.a. performance. brotherhood, sisterhood performance on march 8th. and i attendanted the ignite performance on march 10th that brought young women, high school and college students from all over the bay area to get them activated in the political process. it was great. i met some young women from san francisco public high school. let's see, claire had their starlight celebration on march 10th. and i also joined commissioner ye and commissioner fewer at the galley yo event. i had never met a u.s. astronaut before. so that was very exciting. and just a shoutout for the san francisco p.t.a. they're having their reflections award ceremony on april 14th and bike to school day april 12th. thank you. >> i'm shocked that you didn't mention that yesterday was the 100th anniversary of the founding of the girl scouts of america and both commissioner murase and i were there. the

commissioner maufas: i just wanted to make a quick comment, through the chair, and really to the other supervisors here, that this issue is probably has, from my perspective, and even going forward, from the past, going forward -- one of the largest issues around equity and access, if we ever even imagined we wanted a student to graduate and move forward in the world. in the world, no matter what they choose to do. this is the ground where they must really fight to have access to these courses. we need to facilitate that process. what i would like to request of the chair around this issue is that the requirements to be brought back. you really, as mentioned, the very tip of the iceberg for us to understand. at sfusd, the incredible work to make it for every single student, every single red joining student has this in their diploma course understanding. it is so important and complex. not just one ninth and 10th graders, but you hear about the other grade levels, and what they are doing. we want to make sure all schools have this, all across san francisco. thank you. supervisor campos:
