i'm maureen umeh. the edge begins with a violent start to the weekend, especially in prince georges county where there is another shooting. the latest is a fatal shooting in langley park. police say it happened after 6:40 tonight on the 1400 block of kenny wau street. they say a man was found dead in the hall wait of the building in this apartment complex. investigators say he may have been shot inside an apartment but made it as far as the hallway after the shooting and police say their investigation is just starting. >> reporter: right now, there is no suspect information and there are a lot of people out and they hope if you so something, give it a call and they will resign at 1-866-411- tips. >> investigators are hopeful witnesses will come forward with more information. the victim's name has not been released. >>> and what started as a vigil ended in a 25 by shooting. a group of young men were out friday night around dark in the park lighting candles and drinking in him river of a friend who had d

maureen kelly, kron4 news. >> reporter: police say as a suspect ran south from the scene of the fight, he made a right turn and headed toward the financial district. as police chased, recovers say they ordered the -- officers say they ordered the suspect to stop but he continued to run. as they caught up with him, he lunged at them with a box cutter used against the victim. and that is when an officer opened fire. you can see the evidence markers on the ground indicating bullet casings from the shooting. in total, 4 shots were fired. two struck the suspect in the upper torso. please did not know that he had been struck. when they went to put cuffs on him, they noticed he was bleeding, and that's when an ambulance rushed him to the hospital. the intersection of washington and davis was shut down as technicians diagrammed the incident. >>> the so-called robber's fire is now 70% contained. it has burned more than 4-square miles near forest hill. people who have been evacuated were allowed to return home today. so far the fire has destroyed one home, four buildings, and it has injured 12

. >> kron 4's maureen continues our team coverage now. she shows us the preparations already underway for the big show in san francisco tomorrow night. >> reporter: we're watching the crew handle the explosive devices due to be set off here on the 4th of july. each one is being lowered into these big black tubes you see, held in place by wooden racks. the crew has to handle these devices gently, carefully lowering them by their fuses, because if one is dropped, the impact could cause them to go off. one crew member told me your life is literally in your hands when you're handling these fireworks. while these devices all look very similar now, they'll look very different when they burst into the air. you can get an idea what they look like from the labels on their packages. once the bombs are loaded into the guns, the fuses are wired up to these firing modules. they'll be set off from a remote location. and when they do, the fireworks will be shot high into the air. there are several different sizes of guns out here. the bigger the diamete

good evening thanks for joining us i am maureen ume. this is the second time it has happened this weekend. karen grey houston is at the metro stop in northwest, with details. karen. >> maureen, the word from metro, is that its technicians are still working hard to try to identify t cause of that computer problem, the trains seem to be running okay right now, whatever the problem was, forced two temporary shut downs over the weekend according to a spokesperson, metro, controllers were unable to keep track of the train, so first, shortly after 2 on saturday and then around 12:30 a.m. this morning, drivers were told to bring their trains to the nearest station and hold them there, for half an hour or so. metro says that was done out of an abundance of caution, after that, trains were allowed to move with radio permission, from the controllers we are told, all safety systems that keep trains properly spaced remained fully operational during both of those events. we spoke to metro riders to ask what they thought about metro's latest troubles

>>reporter: maureen kelly, kron 4.an amber alert has been issued for a 16-year-old girl who disappeared from the scene of a double homicide on saturday night, according to the monterey the bodies of two men were discovered inside a home at 62240 railroad avenue in the community of san ardo at the sheriff's office. the men were identified as hector reyes, 22, and daniel detectives were called to the scene, and it was discovered that the serrato, was missing and possibly abducted, according to the sheriff's office. investigators believe that serrato's boyfriend and his father are taking her to mexico, the sheriff's office said. the two men -- who were identified as 39-year-old juan manuel salazar and 19-year-old juan manuel salazar jr. -- were also considered persons of interest in the deaths of reyes and fraga, according to the sheriff's office. salazar is described as a hispanic man with brown eyes and black hair, around 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds. his son is a hispanic man with black hair and black e
