maureen kelly has more from the north bay. check out the heavy fog that shrods the three car collision. the chp says just after 8am a southbound driver of a volkswagon gti.which sent that car across northbound lanes smashing into a honda civic. it's unclear at this time which driver involved in the initial collision crossed over into oncoming lanes. the collision sent debris across lanes in both the morning commute was massive. here you can see the gridlock on the northbound lanes.all of which was closed for nearly an hour. and while you can see some cars getting thru on the southbound side in this video those lanes were also completely closed several times in order to tow trucks access to the scene. cars stalled out.during the wait, which prolonged the congestion. the backup made many driversbites all three drivers suffered >> "i'd say about 30 or 40 feet" and all forty feet of this huge acacia tree came crashing down over the weekend during the recent stormlanding on top of this ()sot)á "we arrived on the house" >> amazingly

maureen kelly kron4 news. >>pam: our live team coverage continues tonight...ron-4's scott rates is live in san jose --- he's been monitoring the storm aftermath there.. scott -- what have you found? >> i can tell you the guadalupe river is holding. much to the satisfaction of the residents, and the san jose water district. this guadeloupe river has been a problem in the past. the previous work has some helped it hold up. this was 1995 when the river flooded into the city causing a major mass. 20 04, the san jose water district began with a $10.6 million project removing sediment and allowed 7500 homes. this latest round of storms did not cause any floodings. this is what it looked like yesterday in the santa cruz mountains. a dry out after the saturation on sunday the latest road closures, and mop mud-with rob fladeboe has the rest of that story. >> as much as fifteen inches of rain in parts of the santa cruz mountains overt the past five days has taken a toll on the narrow, winding roads here. vine hill road in scotts valley is now closed indefinitely after a

maureen naylor standing by live with what police have to tell you. >> reporter: we want to give you ana of what happened right now. i'm standing in front of the kohl's where this happened. we saw some bomb sniffing dogs two of them actually go into the store. police tell us a customer saw a threat written on the bathroom wall inside the door. the writing said there was a bomb in the building. just after 2:00 this afternoon kohl's was evacuated along with 20 other stores. police were putting this caution tape to rope off the area. this isn't the only portion taped off. inside they closed a good portion of the store off. although technically the mall is still open. we also saw that kohl's employees are waiting outside just to make sure they'll be able to go back inside to work. this as police are doing a methodically search inside. >> we have not found anything suspicious as of yet. but we do have the sheriff department bomb squad responding and once they get here we will do another search to check. but so far nothing suspicious but we're erroring on the side of caution. >> sheriff deput

. >> i am maureen naylor. >> in an hour a church is set to hold its first services since a shooting on christmas eve. a mother attending the service was wounded shielding her children. ktvu's eric rasmussen talked to her today about what doctors are saying. >> reporter: it was a close call but she is expected to make a full recovery. this woman felt no pain when she was shot. we talked to her in the hospital. she was among 100 people who were at that christmas eve service when several butts came through the -- bullets came through the walls. her first instinct was to protect her children. [ speaking foreign language ] >> reporter: in spanish she said when i saw the bullet i threw myself over them so it might hit me and not them. she showed us where she was shot. doctors told her the doctors narrowly missed her heart. after three surgeries she is doing well and thanks god she is alive. police say a 17-year-old was also shot outside the church. he is expected to make a full recovery. police are still looking for the shooters and the church does not appear to be the target. she still has
