maureen kelly kron4 news ( robin ) in the south bay... the san jose airport is planning to expand the use of facial recognition cameras. the airport is the first on the west coast to use the cameras. kron 4's charles clifford has the details. well, here at mineta san jose international airport, the airport began using facial biotmetrics back in june and the airport says the technology has already made a difference.since june passengers arriving at the international terminal in san jose have been required to look into a special biometric facial recognition camera. the camera captures a digital image of the person and compares it to a database to quickly identify the passenger. the airport claims that the use of the camera has reduced the average wait time at international arrivals by several minutes.airport officials say that in recent years, the number of passengers arriving at the international terminal has more than doubled from 199,900 in 2015 to 438,800 in 2017. they are hoping the new facial recognition cameras along with a
