(ken) water managers across the region are keeping close tabs on reservoir levels and on the rivers and creeks that feed into them. in morgan hill -- crews at anderson reservoir are releasing water from the dam to make room for more. water has been pouring out of the pipe at the base of the dam for the past week. about 179-thousand gallons per minute is flowing into coyote creek and making it's way downstream, through san jose and out to the bay. <"we reduce the chances we will exceed the seismic restrictions on that reservoir but as the same time we reduce the chances the level will rise even further and cause the water to spill over the spillway."> the santa clara valley water district says the goal is to keep the water level at the reservoir at less than 58 percent to meet those seismic restrictions. kron4's maureen kelly gives us an upclose look at the problems they downed trees are creating.atstree trimmers had a major job on their hands...cutting back a 65 foot high monterey pine that fell over in the storm. it happened about 430am here inside walton square at jackson and davis streets. it came down on top of a parked pickup....but the damage appeared to be minor and their were no injuries. lots of people came to marvel at nature's power on display.....and took pictures and selfies with the uprooted pine. it's incredible, i'm surprised the root system is show shallow for such a big tree.the city's rec and park department says many of their trees have fallen in this storm......so as a precaution they've closed all of the municipal golf courses and stern grove for the day.... what was described as a significant wind event brought down several large eucalyptus in the forest knolls neighborhood in san francisco. one 100 foot plus tree closed clarendon ave after bringing down power lines with it. the lines were de-engergized for safety .....and 400 customers lost power becaus

kron4's maureen kelly talked to the public works director ... who is concerned about possible flooding there. the town of san anselmo has been getting a lot of rain and you can see what that's doing to the creek behind me and there is more in the forecast. so much so that the county council has canceled tonight's meeting. now this morning this creek was hitting between eight and 9 feet and that has officials worried because when this creek hits 11 feet a siren will sound alerting people of possible flooding because when the creek is at 13 feet they say flooding is eminent. the director of public works says if that happens they will start evacuating people and closing off san anselmo avenue they say they do not want people to come down here and watch the spectacle of the creek overflowing its banks because it's just not safeit's dangerous if it floods down here will get up to 4 feet of water if you look at the floodgates here that we have there almost 4 feet high and if there's 4 feet of water there has their cars of wash down here so you're not

(robin) a mudslide has closed redwood road in napa county. officials say as of 7 p-m last night ... the road was closed in the 35-hundred block about a half mile south of mount veeder road. county emergency officials said the road is closed indefinitely. (robin) also in the north bay... highway 37 westbound remains closed in novato after yesterday's flooding. this truck getting stuck because of all that rain. both directions between highway-101 in and atherton avenue were closed most of wednesday. the concern now is the major rain system coming this weekend. officials say that could keep the westbound lanes closed through early next week. kron4's maureen kelly shows us what's being done to keep the slide from getting worse. here's the 100 foot wide and 300 foot long slide as seen from north san pedro road.....traffic is open underneath the slide but some orange cones are out to warn drivers away from the runoff ponding on the shoulder.the slide is right beneath a home up on crestview way....i've been told by crews working here that home itself has been checked by engineers who have determinted that it's stable.....the slide happened during last week's wet weather and for the past two days a landscape construction company has been doing a lot of work to try and stablize the hillside..take giants sheets of plastic, 6 mm thick 40 x 100 so they're tricky to deal with in the wind and rain had about 15 guys, 500 sandbags about 10,000 feet of rope just saw a star for the top and work your way down methodically and safelythey did all this in the storm conditions...because they were trying to keep more water from getting on the hillsideit could certainly slide a lot more if that 4 inches of rain yesterday got en

kron4's maureen kelly reports...he school had counselors on hand to help students deal with the deaths of the much loved animals.. flowers have been tied to the gate outside the loma vista farm....just outside the pen where the three alpacas were mauled to death friday night. racer, skyfall and pacheco were found dead by a caretaker....three sheep and two pygmy goats were also attacked....but are recovering from their multiple bite wounds.the farm is part of the loma vista environmental science academy's campus...and is visited weekly by the students. it's is also a destination for field trips for students from other schools both in and out of the vallejo school district. the farm keeper says the alpacas were the kids who came to visit.. they were so sweet and gentle these are pictures of the two huskies after they were empounded by the solano county animal control....she says the dogs have gotten onto the farm before... the solano county animal control says the owners have surrendered the huskies....and it has not y

kron4's maureen kelly shows us how falling trees are creating a major problem in san francisco. what was described as a significant wind event brought down several large eucalyptus in the forest knolls neighborhood in san francisco. one 100 foot plus tree closed clarendon ave after bringing down power lines with it. the lines were de-engergized for safety .....and 400 customers lost power because of it as pge crews came out to try and untangle this mess. two of the trees fell into a ucsf student housing complex ....damaging the roof of one apartment but did not cause any injuries.....the building needed to be evacuated while a huge crane came out to remove the trunks. an aborist says the trees were healthy....but with the soil so saturated they couldn't withstand the pressure of the gusty winds overnight, natstree trimmers had a major job on their hands...cutting back a 65 foot high monterey pine that fell over in the storm. it happened about 430am here inside walton square at jackson and davis streets. it came down on top of a parked pickup....but the damage appeared to be mino

(landingááá) while the strike can cause anxiety and confusion for many of the districts 36-thousand students and their families. its important to stress that all oakland unified schools will be open and district leaders expect students to attend class. but students showing up to school will likely see their teachers outside... carrying picket signs. inside ... the district is saying students will be taught by principals, office staff and temporary emergency teachers. schools still will be offering lunch. and all state and federally funded after-school programs will be open. but for parents who don't feel comfortable with having their kids cross the picket line ... there are alternatives. the teacher's union has partnered up with the oakland parks department... to help occupy children. and at least one oakland church is stepping up.... taylor memorial united methodist church says they can take in up t0 250 students for the duration of the strike. <'we are offering them hot breakfast we a

(ken) on the peninsula... daly city home was hit hard by the strong winds associated with the storm hitting the bay area. the gusty winds ripped part of the siding off a home on monticello drive near longview drive... which sits close to the pacific ocean. neighbors say the area does gets really windy.. but they say last night was especially intense. one man told kron4 his home was shaking and felt like it was going to be blown off its foundation. part of the home is exposed now from where the siding was ripped off. (pam) this storm is leaving its mark in the santa cruz mountains ... and along the coast. there were downed trees and flooded roads... plus, another reservoir is at capacity and spilling over. there will likely be no rationing or mandatory water conservation measures imposed in santa cruz this summer. the loch ull newell creek, which flows into the already- swollen san lorenzo river... water conservation manager toby goddard says, that river came close to flood stage earlier this month..

kron4's maureen kelly reports...had counselors on hand to help students deal with the deaths of the much loved animals.. flowers have been tied to the gate outside the loma vista farm....just outside the pen where the three alpacas were mauled to death friday night. racer, skyfall and pacheco were found dead by a caretaker....three sheep and two pygmy goats were also attacked....but are recovering from their multiple bite wounds.the farm is part of the loma vista environmental science academy's campus...and is visited weekly by the students. it's is also a destination for field trips for students from other schools both in and out of the vallejo school district. the farm keeper says the alpacas were loved by the kids who came to visit.. they were so sweet and gentle these are pictures of the two huskies after they were empounded by the solano county animal control....she says the dogs have gotten onto the farm before... the solano county animal control says the owners have surrendered the huskies....and it has not ye
