max foster joining me once again from l.a. did the royal couple make some new fans during their time there? >> they certainly did. not as many as can d.a. they didn't get a chance to meet so many members of the public. a series of events in this whirlwind tour, they won all sorts of people over. saturday, you could describe as glamour day, the polo match in the morning and the dutchess with her husband and his team won. he had a big red carpet event on the saturday night with some a-listers was there. they were excited about what the dutchess was wearing. they were nervous. it says something about the star power. a bit more low key on the sunday. there was a missions event, meeting war veterans and helping them to get jobs after their work in the military. a very successful whirlwind tour. i am told by st. james' palace, we north going to see them for a while now because they want to lie low in north whales. in the words of the palace, they want some time to establish their new married life. certainly, after this flurry of med

correspondent max foster.nd how were you able to arrange that? >> reporter: well, they have built up a good relationship with the palace. they gave us an opportunity to meet the couple. it was a fascinating conversation. it is going very, very well for them. i think william particularly is really pleased with the way things are going. it's a great conversation. when you look at the reaction that they had in area of canada, for example, you really understand why they're so excited about this. this is the first foreign tour. it just could not have been going better. >> what are they like in person? >> well, you know, they're young, obviously. william in particular looks really well, really healthy. they're very personable people. you really see this when out and about with the crowds as well. that's what different about this generation of royals. they're very chaty. they don't bother with all the formalities. they weren't expected to say hello your royal highness. they're very personal people. very chatty people

cnn's royal correspondent max foster has been a busy man traveling along with them.owing every move the duke and duchess. so, he joins us now from los angeles. all right, give us the latest now. >> i'm exhausted. i need a rest after all of this. the duke and duchess on their way to the airport and travel back to london. people surprised they travlt by scheduled flight. theres a great reaction to them from the war veterans and the organizer pointed out to me that, actually, this is the most famous military officer in the world. a lot of the former officers here really related to him and william played to that, actually, in his speech. >> this is the last event on our tour of north america, but, in my mind, one of the seriously most important. this is because it is about men and women who of their own free will choose to put their life on the line for their country. they are the front line of a remarkable relationship between the united kingdom, the united states and canada, which has safe guarded our freedoms for a century. >> well, there you go. then they went back a

our max foster is there. max, what will the duke and duchess be doing today?> reporter: some live pictures for you, you can see katherine speaking to various dignitaries from quebec as she just got off the plane at the airport and they're ready to set off to a children's hospital. you can hear behind me. and we have got pro monarchy fans, basically, of katherine and william. we have also got some anti-monarchy campaigners. you can hear them booming and shouting, they're competing with each other. most people here actually don't want the royal family. but a lot of people like william and katherine as well. they're going to go to a children's hospital and it's going to be a very emotional event for them, i think, there's some very, very sick children there, women with trouble ed pregnancies and also they're going to go to a premature baby care unit. and then they're going to learn to cook. william knows how to cook already. but it's going to be some french canadian cooking. >> when will their next stop be? they have quite the itinerary, in fact? >> reporter: the

max foster joins us from los angeles with the latest.like you're ready to play polo? >> reporter: no, i'm ready for the red carpet. it's awesome being in a hot tux in a blazing afternoon in l.a. the polo match just recently finished, and the prince won. he seems to be playing a tough game. the duchess is about to award him with a trophy. everyone's standing by for the kiss. that's what speculators are worrying about in the media crowd. they're going to be promoting young u.k. interests. we're not sure who the a-listers are yet, but it hasn't been denied that j. lo is coming, her husband denied that nicole kidman is coming. >> they've barely been in hollywood for 24 hours, but already they've had a jam packed schedule. what's on the agenda for tonight? >> it's been like that for the last nine days much they have several events to go. they're going to skid row to meet young homeless people. it's a cause close to william's heart as it was his mothers. tomorrow they'll meet veterans at a job fair. you'll see catherine meeting military wives.

max foster is in montreal. what's planned for them? >> reporter: they're really upping the pace today. they're going to two cities in one day, would you believe. the first thing was they planted a tree. they've been staying in ottawa and they met invited guests there. lots of people celebrating their anniversaries them went to the canadian war museum and met some war veterans, past wars but also afghanistan and some military wives. she is one herself now so she had a lot to talk about with them. currently they're in the air heading toward montreal where they'll first visit a children's hospital. that will be quite an emotional visit. specifically catherine. she gets on very well with children. then they'll be coming to this culinary institute where they're going to speak to students and cook food with them. and william is a very good cook indeed. he cooks at home, we're told. and catherine, we're not so sure about so we'll get a sense of whether she can cook, too. >> okay. what about the crowds? how have they been? >> reporter: well, t

max foster is there as well. max, hello to you, kind sir, what have they been up to?rter: they were a complete hit yesterday. you saw the pictures in ottawa. the carriage and crowds, a massive display of pomp and pageantry, and the couple did very well there. today, they're going to meet some war veterans in ottawa. catherine will meet some military wives, she is a military wife herself. and then they're headed to montreal, an emotion nam visit to a children's hospital. she's very good with children. then they come here to a culinary school, a cookery school. and william is a great cook. he does a lot of the cooking at home, at least in their main home, they haven't got staff. we don't quite know about the duchess, how good she is. we'll see how good they are at cooking. they'll be cooking with the students and eating some of the food. the other interesting thing about quebec, the province we're in, there's a lot of anti-monarchy feeling, they would rather no have a monarchy here, so we'll see how william and catherine play into that. can they bring their star power?
