. >> ainsley: fox weather correspondent max gorden is on the ground in maui.w a lot about this. janice was just telling us her husband is a firefighter. your parents are both firefighters in california. >> yes. athey are both retired firefighters in california. they saw a lot of scenes like this and, unfortunately, this is now playing out here on the hawaiian island of maui. we are actually hanging out with firefighters, just keeping a watch over some hot spots here on this ridge luckily the fire activity has died down a little bit as we have moved onto the evening hours. the winds have died down and the relative humidity has gone up. but, really, this island was a tinder box on tuesday when a lot of these flames erupted. you know, we had winds up to 85 miles per hour whipped up by hurricane dora even though it was passing the hawaiian islands a few hundred miles to the south it was still fanning the flames and some fire fighting aircraft couldn't take off because the winds were so strong. the island was very, very dry. conditions were just ripe for a fire to
