maya angelou was right, when someone shows you who they are, believe them. how else to describe a budget that shamelessly takes away hope and opportunity from millions of families while showering millionaires and billionaires and wealthy corporations with tax cuts. this endangers our national security. the deep cuts to nondefense funding in this budget reveals exceedingly narrow and shallow understanding of national security. it involves, or it's the critical components of national strength and greatness, such as economic opportunity, vigorous diplomacy, international alliances, safe and healthy communities and educated citizenry, all have been dashed by the republican budget. a growing economy is key to our national security. foreign policy experts from both sides of the aisle agree that our national power begins with a strong economy. it is important to have world-class education, transportation, research, development. as michael morrill, former acting director and deputy of cia stated in 2016, the health of a nation's economy is the single most important
