meteorologist rob mayeda joins us from the weather center. >> it's kind of an abrupt change. in the first week of summer we should see 80s and 90s. most locations from santa rosa into san jose, east into dublin, picking up less than a tenth of an inch. year. last year and the year before that, 2011, we almost had a half inch more. it does rain in june, usually not this late into june. right now the evening commute, especially on the south half of the peninsula towards palo alto and mountain view, approaching the 580/680 corridor, looks like we'll see more light rain coming in. this does not look like june. big area of low pressure to the west. all the moisture spilling into the bay area which will drop more rain overnight tonight into tomorrow morning's commute. plan on rain to start tomorrow and those temperatures very muggy outside. lows tonight only in the 60s. so coming up, we'll let you know how long the rain will stick around, plus a very abrupt heat wave. we'll walk you through the timing in a few minutes. >>> the weather section of our website is up-to-the-minute. it'

rob mayeda's here with that. >> just in time for the work week the clouds areok coming in and changesly in the 50s. still some 60s inland bute1 if u compare this to 24 hours ago you can really see the cooldown for inland areas. about 10ok degrees to almost 20 degrees cooler in morgan hill. so you've got that cool air rushing through the salinas valley. coming upxd out of the southeas it is windy in san jose. you've got the flights leaving san jose airport, flying to the uti] shifted here in the last couple of hours or so, and still pretty gusty in san francisco. so the ocean air conditioning which is on overdrive right now ensure that tomorrow's highs will be about five to ten degrees cooler. that marine layer, which was almost about 1,000 feet thick earlier today, is now sitting closer to about 2,200 feet. so once it gets that thick, it has no trouble spilling all the way toward the altamont pass, reaching the strait and thoeds those inland locations which today got close to 90 around fairfield and livermore. we'll have a tough time getting into the low 80s coming tomorrow. you'll se

. >>> right now rob mayeda checking on the weather and changes coming up. >> yeah, you can't be boredith the seven-day forecast that's coming up. we've got a big cool-down coming then a big warm-up toward the end of the week. right now in between the two. 60s in san francisco and oakland. 73 in san jose. still some 80s inland this afternoon. we did see temperatures climb especially out by concord and fairfield. winds still primarily onshore bringing the chance of low clouds tomorrow morning and hopefully bring our humidity levels up. we've had that fire now about 40 acres by the crockett area which is now being contained. but you can see the humidity levels fairly dry in inland locations at 20% or less at times this afternoon. we do have the fog here from pacifica to half moon bay. sunny around santa cruz where we managed mid 70s this afternoon. the system we're going to be watching for you that's going to bring the drop in temperatures, the gulf of alaska has been holding position this weekend. by tuesday it's going to drop in over the bay area which will lead to cooler temperatures.

. >> let's check in with rob mayeda. >> father father's day.d the weather could serve up a nice forecast around the bay area. it was gorgeous outside though a little windy now. this afternoon i've been watching winds pick up off the ocean. a cool day in san francisco, 63 degrees. 68 in oakland. 73 in san jose. still some 80s inland. fairfield and napa. you can see the winds, strong through san mateo, west at 22. northwest into 21. san jose, out at the airport seeing a gusty breeze blowing in from the northwest. humidity levels dropping off some inland out towards crockett, we've been watching that fire at times seeing the wind gusts up to 30-mile-per-hours. humidity levels in the 20% range. that should increase now as the marine air starts to flow inland again. the fog still hanging out west of the golden gate down from pacifica and half moon bay. santa cruise managed mid 70s with sunshine. we'll see this pattern repeat as we go into tomorrow morning. low clouds spilling locally inland tomorrow morning. and we'll see those temperatures staying

. >>> rob mayeda is here to talk about -- it's basically summer. >> pretty much. >> by the end of thel according to the calendar be summer. but in the meantime, a cooling trend. 50s and 60s outside with a steady sea breeze bringing in patchy low clouds into the inland areas and drizzle out on the coast. one of the things that will change our weather showers to the north of the bay area but cooler air aloft. tuesday afternoon and wednesday won't feel much like spring. the temperatures will be in the 60s and low 70s with this mid-week cooling. a lot of low clouds during the day tomorrow. and on tuesday we could see drizzle in a few spots tuesday morning. then we see things change-up wednesday. tuesday afternoon you have the fog on the coast. but watch the trend here wednesday. dryer air mixing down and that will set the stage to a warmup for the second half of the seven-day forecast. 70s and 80s tomorrow. upper 70s and low 80s in fairfield and in the 60s for san francisco and mostly 70s in the north bay. first three days of the workweek are cooler. the coolest are tuesday and wednesday.

let's bring in meteorologist rob mayeda. it's been a long week. >> has it? >> it feels like it. >> because we've had five different weather forecasts the whole week. all the seasons. >> we're about to see three more different ones in the seven-day forecast coming up. short-term today it got hot. up to 90 degrees by livermore and fairfield. the temperatures around the inner bay cooling down, now down to 70 degrees in oakland. 60s by san francisco. still warm from san jose south into morgan hill. as is the winds pick up, we will see the 24-hour temperature change by tomorrow probably being about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the slight warmup we saw today. as the marine layer got squished down into the inner bay and the coast, very dry conditions in the inland hill tops. this is the story all the way till the start of the next rainy season. anytime you get humidity level inside the teens in the hills it, fire danger goes up. marine layer thickens up and short term leads to a little bit of cooling. we have the on shore winds. you don't have the coolant set up in
