marissa mayer says she has great confidence in the strength of yahoo! business. how is yahoo!'y ad is this doing? would it better for them to abandon? we spoke to josh stein an expert in the field of digital ads and an investor in chart b about the prospects for yahoo!. should they expend on new ad technology or not? cory johnson started by asking him what's next for yahoo! in the ad space. >> they have a high-class problem. they've been a holding company and they just realized about $6 billion after-tax but they are flat. you have search, number one and the biggest, google. social is facebook and twitter. brand is big, about $15 billion, but it's always underperformed expectations. >> what do you mean by brand? >> cars, movies, coca-cola, budweiser. they are trying to get your engagement and attention. tv is a big medium. the nfl by itself does like $6 billion. you feel the resonance. the internet has fallen on delivering results for advertisers historically. >> thing with brand -- the publisher of people when i worked there 1000 years ago said it's fundamentally about belief.

an activist fund is pressuring marissa mayer and urging her to merge with aol.or more i am joined by the senior research analyst gene munster. what do you make of this pressure? our yahoo! and aol better off together? >> i do not think they are better off together. i would get the analogy they are to fading giants. i do not know that putting them together makes sense. i would say score another win for shareholder activists. has withhat apple their dividends or ebay and paypal. betterem to be getting momentum and making things happen. if you had asked me last week the probability it happens, i would say lower than it is today. that said, i do not think it is the right thing for yahoo!. >> what about softbank buying yahoo!? >> that makes a lot of sense. i think there are important tax implications if they go that route. the last tranche was almost a 40% tax rate. that could almost dramatically lower that. i think a combination around that does make sense. i think former aol and yahoo!, while they are synergies, it does not solve the fundamental questions about whe
