this rash of deaths comes as mayor de blasio hailed his vision zero plan launched just one year ago. news 4's ray villeda is live with how this community is coping now. >> reporter: the community and the family is struggling with all of this, natalie. i just spoke to a grandson who was in tears and said he used to see her every day. he can't imagine not seeing her again tomorrow. in fact, this crash happened early this morning, and you can see right behind me, a memorial has been set up for rosario. as you mentioned, her death one of several on new york city streets in the last few days. >> no matter how tough things were, she was always smiling. >> reporter: it is a smile, a spirit her family will never forget. police say 88-year-old rosario was in the cab early sunday morning as she was crossing west 109th near columbus avenue. >> she would be alive. >> reporter: the driver remained on the scene and was given a failure to yield ticket. her death comes just hours afterdle man was struck and killed in queens. the driver in that situation stayed on the scene and has not been charged.
