we did have a town hall meeting with mayor fenty and it was extremely positive. i think it brought to him a new face and a new awareness of how many people were really interested on changing policies and changing the way the district views recovery as well as the problem, the answer as well as the problem. that means we'll be sending you information about our meetings and about our policy updates, about the work that we're doing, about the communities that we're out reaching to, and about the goals that we're setting for ourselves. it's the perfect merge of bringing people in the community who have an intimate knowledge of what's happening along with policymakers who may or may not have that information. and then i think, secondly, it's important to show people that they really can control their communities. they really can advocate for policies and help shape the world the way they want it to be. when you're dealing with legislation that affects people's lives, i think it's very important that the people whose lives are being affected be involved in those policy
