in 2016, with the support of mayor lee, we were able to open up our dos benefits and resource hub at the corner of goff and otus and we wanted to help streamline the intake process for people who need our services and make it easier for them to find us. we constantly are up against people not knowing where to find senior services or services with people with disabilities and we wanted it to be our hub for those services. what we have are people can access home delivered meals, they can come in and sign up for those and they can call in and do it online. they can also make reports of abuse to adult protective services and they can get support of services and also we co located our county veteran service office there. so, last year we had about close to 15,000 intakes for those programs. we received close to 28,000 calls. we were able to work with about 2800 veterans and file 5700 claims for veterans, which result inside about $4 million in retroactive benefits for those veterans. in office on the aging, we have now served over 34,000 people in the last fiscal year and that is an incre

and that person is mayor ed lee. mayor lee was not about apathy, he was about action. to know what are you going to do next? it just so happens that i was with the mayor on what would end up being his last press event, because it was the day he died. he had just come back from the chicago climate summit and he was on fire. one of the last things i heard him say was that we must leave this planet in better shape than we found it. and he knew that our city could do this. he understood the importance of bold ideas, of pushing the envelope because that is what san francisco does. so many significant projects and policies are coming to fruition now because of mayor lee's vision and commitment to action. i often find myself imagining, he is looking down on all of us and smiling in his humble way with pride at what he put in motion. don't it always seem to go. the loss of his leadership is felt and we are inspired by his legacy to continue this work, to continue this work and move forward. over the next five months, we will be gearing up for governor jerry brown's global clim

i served on this board since 2010, appointed by mayor newsom and later mayor ed lee. in my personal life i'm a real estate broker. i have a small really estate office where i prosi proside -- provide sales and property management. i have a wife of 19 years, i have a son 17 and i have a son 16 and i have a daughter who is 14 who thinks that she's older than her two brothers. i have son who is also 32 and will make me a grandfather this year. the san francisco port is a very valuable asset planning a 7 and a half mile water front piece of real estate. actually, neglected over the years particularly due to its transition from maritime use to developments and recreational use. the changes in growth of the san francisco port need to be done in a very respectful way. the port belongs to the people of san francisco just like golden gate park does and needs to be managed for the people of san francisco. the port does not belong to any special group or to a group or developmenters as a category. i will work to operatimize the va of the port, i will work to have a san francisco
