we're going to have a new mayor, who is not our currently serving, interim mayor. the time to do this, precisely to show it's not aimed at gotcha is, to create this system in advance of a new mayor coming in. and hopefully that individual will embrace it in the positive spirit that i intend this. as i said before, it's an experiment. if it turns out to be the same old, stilted stuff, we can revert to the canned 5-minute speech we get now and life would go on. >> supervisor safai: would you be open to a sunset provision, two-year period and then it goes back? i'm just kidding. [laughter] anyone else want to say anything? >> supervisor yee: through the chair, can i ask the author of the legislation his opinion on the amendment that has been offered by the chair? >> supervisor safai: as to the first amendment with regard to making sure that the way that the topic is stated is reviewed by the city attorney so it's not overly broad. i support that. that's a sensible addition. with regard to the mayor being able to either respond if he or she so chose to the originating,

mayor lee, acting mayor breed who helped us finalize, and now mayor farrell. mayor farrell has supported this project for two terms while on the board of supervisors. we're celebrating many years of hard work and welcome our mayor, mayor farrell. [applause] >> thank you, elaine. and congratulations to you. so, i'm excited to be here to celebrate the signing of this legislation. let's be clear, we all want to talk about the world series coming up here to san francisco. i know, it isn't here, but i'm here to say congratulations. first of all, elaine, congratulations to you and the port team for all your hard work and to larry, you and your team for all of the hard work. this is emblematic of the best of a collective planning process we have here in the san francisco. this is a city agency willing to be creative with a ton of support and a willing and engaged local partner in the giants. to really come here to celebrate this today. but it's because of the port and the giants and their hard work that we are really here today celebrating what is going to be an amaz

mayor lee was proud of when he was mayor as well. it's something that we all should be proud of together and something we should all celebrate. today is a day of celebration. i want to say a special thanks to our principal here. we got to know each other last year when we opened the middle school as a shared schoolyard projects. for the weekends here that our children can play here. if we're not doing everything we can in our city government to support our families and children, i don't know what our government is all about. so i am so proud to be here today, so proud to stand with the people behind me who do all the hard work to make this happen and so proud to support our families. thank you, everybody. that's mayor lee's legacy.t's not often we get to come and celebrate him but do so in a way where we're able to look out and say thank you because it's your work that's your legacy we're proud to keep moving forward. congratulation to all the winners of the impact awards and have a good time tonight. >> it feels so right to celebrate mayor lee on a moment when we're celebrating the great work of city employees and his passion and compassion and doggedness to get stuff done is reflective in the work you have done. i have worked on two initiatives with the city of san francisco i think will forever change the course of history. one was as a young lawyer on the same-sex marriage case back in 2004 which was a series of litigation that gave rise to prop 8 overturned by the supreme court validating gay marriage and the second was saving public housing. it was a super courageous thing mayor lee did. others might say those are federal buildings, federally funded, not my problem and he did the opposite and said we're a

we have to do that much more than a mayor does. and i think it's good to get on the record to say, i use senate bill 827 as an example. what is your position on senate 827 and why? it would be great for all of us to hear that and for the public to hear that. i don't see it as a gotcha thing. i think when you don't have a prepared thing that you read, and you actually have to think on your feet, i don't think it's going to increase our tv ratings by any stretch of the imagination, but it's real democracy and i think that's what the people voted for in 2010 and what they haven't gotten. and i hope that the board will have an opportunity to do it. i'm glad that our president utilized question time, for the first time, as i said before, since september, 2016. and the answer can be -- obviously, any person or elected official or politician can say, i don't know the answer. i will go back and look at it and study it

why haven't they picked them up yet. >> judge jeanine: mayors like this mayor is hiding them and alerting come on, san francisco, you know better than that and not only that. the locals, wait a minute. >> jesse: ca. wait a minute, jessica. pause the locals are letting them out the side door when they know ice is coming. >> it is impossible. they got immigration. >> feds cannot protect american citizens. >> your honor, your honor, you know that is a lie. >> judge jeanine: i know what i know. don't tell me what i know it is true. >> that's true. >> judge jeanine: don't come on this show and tell me what is true and what isn't true. go ahead, jessica. >> it's not true. it's a lie. >> oakland, san francisco and the entire state of california does not cooperate with ice. they release criminal aliens that ice has identified through biometrics deportable from the country but they refuse to allow ice to come and pick up these individuals. that's why they are on to begin with. >> absolutely a lie. >> why is that a lie? >> it was federal policy. catch and release. >> you are telling me the city did

and i am so proud of our affiliation at ucsf with the city, mayor lee, who was a special man, mayor farrell, potentially future mayor breed, all the people in the city who have really helped us move forward and make something important happen. but i do want to spend a moment talking about dignity health, what an amazing organization it is under lloyd's leadership, the team at dignity health is spectacular. always focused on doing what is best for the community. and at ucsf, we believe that's our calling, putting the needs of the community first and trying to address those in every possible way. as barbara garcia said, we've enjoyed a fantastic 150 and we weren't there in the beginning -- >> no, we were not. >> close. 150 year membership that is the envy of the medical centers across this nation and we want to build on. i want to acknowledge one special person, so many special people, dr. jackson, who is our doctor for behavioral health services. when she came to ucsf she asked a lot of questions. what are we doing in the community? and the answers were not enough. with the partnership with

lastly, as your 44th mayor, i do want to pay homage to mayor lee, who was a huge supporter of this from the beginning, and was a huge supporter until his untimely death last year. to mayor lee, to all of you who made this happen, and to the future of san francisco, congratulations, everyone. to mayor schaaf: how dare you?needlessly endanger the lives of our law enforcement officers to promote a radical open borders agenda? >> how dare you? villify members of our community? how dare you distract the american people from a failed immigration system? >> reporter: after that war of words, schaaf said she is lawyering up for any potential legal action against her. former u.s. attorney for northern california melinda haag hassed off her services pro does has offered her services pro bono. people are calling for the mayor to be indicted for obstruction of justice. the criticism comes after the head of i.c.e. says he believes some 800 immigrants avoided arrest because of mayor schaaf's tip- off. now, mayor schaaf is standing her ground saying she doesn't regret that warning she gave to illegal immigrants and thinks it helped keep families together and protected members of her community. reporting live here in oakland, i'm jessica flores, kpix 5. >>> reporter john blackstone will have more on the lawsuit coming

[laughter] so it was a long torturous path 95% torture created by myself not being the most studious person but i started to work at the nightclub probably working 60 hours a week studying me be 60 minutes so i tried to leave engineering school but there is no future there for me wharton denied
