there are hurricane watches and warnings from about 450 miles of the western mexican coast up to mazatlanhere there is a hurricane warning in effect. as this storm slowly creeps in the problem will be that slow movement means heavy rainfall. won't be a lot of wind necessarily with this storm but take a look at these rainfall totals. anywhere from 4 to 6, in some cases maybe 8 to 10 inches of rain, that likely is going to mean flash flooding, landslides, mudslides, going to be a mess there for the next 24 hours. shifting gears just a minute i just want to quickly follow back on ian because ian is not done with the east coast. the storm is actually back here, the remnants of it where i've drawn the letter x, they're going to back their way into the atlantic throughout the day today and that means rain plus an easterly wind along the coast. kim, that could mean possible storm coastal flooding, that is, up to 1 foot inundation from let's say long island all the way down to maryland. we're still watching ian, but orlene is something that we have to keep an eye on, very dangerous situation in w

hurricane orlene weakening to a tropical storm hours after making landfall near the mexican city of mazatlan this morning. first responders advised people to avoid the beaches because a big waves and dangerous surf conditions. officials are also warning about possible mudslides. kron 4 meteorologist mabrisa rodriguez has the latest on the storm. yeah, it has weakened significantly since making landfall earlier today along the west portion of mexico's mainland. >> right now, it does have sustained winds at 25 miles per hour, but it is weakening. we're still going to notice the threat of landslides and flooding. that's going to continue through tuesday because we're still going to see widespread rain throughout that region because of remnants of what was once hurricane orlene still impacting that region of mexico. but as you can see, it is inching closer towards texas right now starting to make its way into brownsville and then eventually corpus christi. but for us here in the bay area, we're tracking drier, calmer conditions, not so much clears. we were earlier today, but we are going to see
