commissioner president mazzucco: . president mazzucco: thank you. after watching your vision, i am a little nervous. i drove with him today. on behalf of the san francisco police commission, i want to thank you all for coming here this evening. it is an honor to stand before the police officers this evening, and i am humbled by it. when you hear their acts of valor, a chill will run up your spine. these men and women who have joined the police department to serve the city took an extra step, and i was actually the commissioner president during the voting for each and every one of these metals. a little bit about the process. in this process the only people allowed in the room are civil service capt. and above. id was allowed in the room, and it was an honor to be there. inspector monroe was preside pr. interestingly, after every presentation they turn to the officers and say, do you have anything to add? not one officer added anything other than we were doing our job. we were doing what we were trained to do. i am thinking about how many people watc

good evening, president mazzucco, chief and members of the audience. i have passed out the september comprehensive report and normally this is part of your packet and i provide it to you in advance. but some of the data that i needed was not available until yesterday. so i you do have it on your desk and i will discuss it. first complaints received. from september first 2012 to september 30th, the occ opened 62 cases which are 7 fewer cases than were opened in september, 2011. only opened 69 cases. in september, 2012, the occ investigators close td four classes and opened by closing 66 cases. as of september 30th. they had 215 pending cases as of today, they have 221 cases compared to 628 pending cases last year this time. >> so the investigators caseload have been reduced significantly. >> in the area of medation, they mediated three cases that is five percent of the cases that we closed. in september, 19 officers were offered medation and all of them accepted. that does not mean that we will have 19 medations because the complainant has to accept and

president mazzucco, commissioners, chief, and members of the public, and policy analyst for the office of complaints. when director hiks presented our 2011 annual report a few months ago this commission asked us to identify our top three policy projects for the upcoming year and we have had dozen and dozens of policy recommendations pending with the police department but we identified language access services, a revised pursuit policy in a minor revision to the force. and we picked these three particular projects because the use of force amendment would be simple and we would like to get something accomplished quickly. the language access that we have been working for many years with the department and community organizations and we have a lot of really great forward movement. that is part of why we picked language access and the third one on on pursuits is there is an urgency about the pursuit given that it iso old from 1997. so in turning to those three policies what this commission has done and we have all appreciated that you have made us come before you every few months to let you
