commissioner president mazzucco: . president mazzucco: thank you. after watching your vision, i am a little nervous. i drove with him today. on behalf of the san francisco police commission, i want to thank you all for coming here this evening. it is an honor to stand before the police officers this evening, and i am humbled by it. when you hear their acts of valor, a chill will run up your spine. these men and women who have joined the police department to serve the city took an extra step, and i was actually the commissioner president during the voting for each and every one of these metals. a little bit about the process. in this process the only people allowed in the room are civil service capt. and above. id was allowed in the room, and it was an honor to be there. inspector monroe was preside pr. interestingly, after every presentation they turn to the officers and say, do you have anything to add? not one officer added anything other than we were doing our job. we were doing what we were trained to do. i am thinking about how many people watc

good evening, president mazzucco, deputy chief chin and members of the audience. i'm manny ports with the officers with citizens complaints. i'm here for director inhibition. i am happy to report that the occ does not have a report tonight. director hicks shall return next week. >> thank you. please read the commission report. >> i have nothing new to report commissioners, anything new to report commissioner kingsley? >> just one item and that is on behalf of the commission i did represent the commission on the firearms review board in the last week and it was the first time i have done that and quite an interesting experience. for those of you who may have not have yet served, just to know that the documentation needs to stay in the room. so in this time, the cases were fairly straight forward so it was okay to come in cold and certainly the officers in their presentations were very thorough, but if you want to see the materials ahead of time and kind of be kind of a step ahead of it, go to the commission office early to do that. these cases were pretty straight

into this and i want to thank you for that and what i would ask for is has been asked by president mazzucco to try to figure out where we are with the patrol specials and i had several metings with the police department and i know that they are difficult and must be complied with and they spent a lot of time to analyze and put it in a con size manner and so it is the green fold and her it is in chart form and we will dive into what we find after you call these items. >> >> good evening commissioners and chief and members of the public, from the community and engagement unit and this is officer carly brown and she has worked to try to answer some of the questions that have came up regarding the patrol special and she is ready to plenty on some of the findings and again open it up to discussion if there is anything else that needs to be addressed. thank you. >> >> good evening. >> you talk about the patrol special compliance, and that was asked about in the prior hearing. we are here to talk about the patrol special compliance that was asked about in a previous meeting. and just a quick revie

. >> and president mazzucco? >> so, thank you for doing that. and i know that it is a lot of work and i know for the two of you it has been a lot of work and the other people helping you. just to give you the thought process that i had when we were going through the charts. this chart is useful and i think that we should continue to ask for an update of this chart so that we are aware of where we are with the compliance issue and that as it is clear that there is a repeated violations with clear notice to the special officers that they are not complying with the rules and it needs to be settled in the discipline process so that there is oversight and accountability. and so we will just continue to ask for it and now that you have put it altogether and you have a structure for it and we will continue to ask for an update on this and understand that there might be a training coming up in october. >> there is. >> okay. where all of these rules again are run over with the specialist and we are clear and so i am hoping that not all of them, since it

i was proud to honor the officers, for their bravery and i want to mention, you know, president mazzucco mentioned a number of officers and there was one officer, lieutenant chap len and he has a 6 and a half-year-old that is two weeks younger than mine and he has a beautiful wife and he was in the middle of trying to dampen down a gang beep and his life was in danger and he was incredibly brave and it was an honor to see his family there, and see his child there, and see his fellow officers there, and his partners of adult probation, and it was increds incredible for any member of this public or commission to miss an opportunity to honor our officers in that way. the police fire mass i would say that again, we had a lot of moments of reflection and it was stunning to me the number of officers that we lose from the fire department and the police department in one calendar year, that mass honors the officers that we lost, retired, and some of them retired and most of them retired this year, but again it is mindful that this is a tough job and i was grateful for the department honoring tho
