i want to show you pictures tweeted out by the mbta in fact fact. the spokesperson for the mbta. we have been showing you these because it traelly illustrates what the problem was. it shows the actual signal when it was broken. the mbta says all commuter rail lines that julie mentioned will come to south station as normal come to south station as normal. commuters already coming off of their commute this morning spoke to me very briefly. i interviewed one woman on camera in the middle of editing that and will get that to us in 30 minutes. her commute was fine. she started driving into the but then she found out about the resumption of regular service, and she and her husband pulled off at the next commuter rail stop and ended up coming into south station as they normally would have. but after yesterday, they were scared off from using the commuter rail and did initially start driving in. again, we will work on that interview. we are working to get that interview again with the amtrak spokesperson as well. we will have a lot more for you coming up in 30 minutes. live in boston sou

mbta employees getting paid to stay home on the taxpayers' dime. doug: how is this happening? kathy curran uncovers more waste on the "t." kathy: it's the end of the shift at the mbta's cabot yard where most drivers have worked a full day. but "5 investigates" found the "t" is paying many bus drivers, trolley and train operators, to stay home and paying other drivers overtime to fill those shifts. throwing money down the drain. kathy: "5 investigates" discovered in 2015 the "t" paid drivers almost $400,000 to stay home and spent another $250,000 in overtime for other drivers to pick up those shifts. time sheets show a driver being paid to stay home for more than seven hours. another is paid 5.5 hours of overtime to fill in for an operator who needed rest. so how did this happen? well, the "t" requires that all drivers have ten hours of rest before starting a new shift to limit fatigue and increase safety. but "5 investigates" discovered when you combine that important safety rule with manpower and scheduling limitations, it results in hundreds of thousands of dollars in waste

under the proposal could go up to $2.25. vote on mbta spare hikes. the mbta looking to close to 200 and $82 million projected budget deficit for 2017. on the table to proposals which would raise fares 6.7 or 9.7 percent on average. this order statutorily required to have a balanced budget for that is clear. they can't spend more than they can show that they have revenue for. so they have to figure out how to make the revenues and the cost all add up. opponents of the hike say raising fears unfairly targets low income students and senior writers who depend solely on the mbta to get to work and school. and cannot afford to pay more for the tea. >> but many opponents at the meeting including several elected officials argued if a than five percent according to what they say promised by lawmakers years ago. >> another move affecting writers tonight the board also voted to suspend late-night service and that goes in effect on march 19. >> aaron and is breaking down the stand tonight while testifying against the man who posed nude videos of her online. and

mbta employees getting paid to stay home on the taxpayers' dime. safety rules require drivers to have ten hours of rest before they start their shift.
