[applause] >> crystal began volunteering in our community over a decade ago back in 2000 when we started beginning the process renovating one of our playgrounds in mosconi. chris cal was very involved in the renovations artestry and following the playground's completion, crystal joined friends of the san francisco public library,

this is the ordinance to amend the planning control for the n.c. 3 district between bush and mcalester street and it is board of supervisors file 11-0010. and commissioners, i am staffing this item and i'm anmarie rodgers from the planning commission and i will present this ordinance to you. and this ordinance was introduced by as a targeted piece of legislation which would require active ground floor commercial uses on fillmore street and between bush and mcal allister and i believe we will have a speaker shortly to describe the impetus for the particular ordinance. while we're waiting for him, i'm describe the ordinance previously. and the ordinance would amend the active use section of the planning code which was many active uses and requires in certain areas of the city. if approved, this ordinance would acquire the uses on fillmore street between bush and mcallister. and this does exclude and therefore would prohibit other uses on this list. and including office uses, and that individual uses 25 feet into the building. if there were uses of larger than that, it need to be wrapped

you also have quarter construction on mcalester and jones, so you might as well do it all at once -- corner construction on mcallister and jones. commissioner antonini: this is a wonderful project. one of our earlier, enters brought up a good point, and that is the new building will provide improved electrical service, which is often not the case in some of the older structurescommenters brought upd point. i think this is a big advantage. now that you cannot do it in construction on older structures, too, but it is a lot more expensive and difficult to do, and this will be a big benefit. one of the mind of benefits, but one worth mentioning of the new construction with these housing units. commissioner sugaya: i am quite supportive, and to reinforce commissioner moore's, and, if mr. crawford to check into that, and i would like to have staff that particular attention to the historic preservation commission's, into the eir -- comment to the eir where they suggest the proposed project should continue to be worked on with planning staffs. i will not go through the whole comment, but jus
